Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! In this episode I speak with my buddy John Schlitt about John Schlitt Ministries, his new book Why, and a brand new album called The Union of Sinners and Saints.
In “WHY,” John Schlitt relates his discovery of why God won’t let him stop singing and ministering to the Body of Christ. His search for his “why” is an encouragement to every reader to find his or her “why.” The book includes emails from fans, song lyrics from John’s Petra days and his own recording projects.
About The Union of Sinners and Saints:
"The idea of a new project really intrigued both of us," Schlitt declares. "With our histories, it only made sense to feature Petra and Whiteheart favorites along with the new songs that we were writing in the studio."
Smiley adds, "John and I got together last fall and started writing some songs and reminisced over both of our histories and journeys. With the chemistry and friendship that developed, we also started brainstorming about taking this new material we were creating out on the road in 2016."
Fans can look forward to the release of the new CD project, available exclusively at Lifeway Stores and digitally on iTunes worldwide. The project will feature eight new compositions and updated versions of Petra and Whiteheart classics.
Joining Schlitt and Smiley in the studio is Anthony Sallee of Whiteheart on bass, new artist Jason Fowler on guitar and vocals, Steve Brewster (Peter Cetera) on drums, Jonathan Crone on guitar, and John Ellis, lead singer from Tree63, on guitar and vocals.
Smiley is producing the record and bringing in on select songs an all-star cast of musicians including Brian Wooten (Whiteheart, Trace Adkins) on guitar, Chris McHugh (Whiteheart, Keith Urban) on drums, Brennan Smiley (The Technicolors) on guitar, Peter Furler (Newsboys) on drums and vocals, and Dave Ellefson (Megadeth) on bass.

Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! In this episode I speak with Terry Brennan about his new novel The Aleppo Code (Kregel, 2015).
About the Book:
Will the code reveal history's most powerful weapon for destruction--or humanitys only hope?
The living members of Tom Bohannon's band of adventurers gather again in Jerusalem--physically battered, emotionally exhausted, spiritually challenged, and in various stages of shock--to examine a copy of the tenth-century Aleppo Code, the oldest complete text of Jewish scripture. What the clues inside reveal could lead to the reuniting of the Ark of the Covenant with its true source of power, a weapon that could lead to victory for this ragged bunch trying to save the world.
Hunted by the relentless assassins of the Prophet's Guard and caught in the web of an international conspiracy plotting the conquest of Europe, Bohannon's team searches the ruins of Ancient Babylon. Their search lands them amid the chaos that engulfs western Iraq, but they must press on to accomplish one of the most pivotal pieces of end-times prophecy. This intrepid group will uncover secrets that require them to risk everything for their faith, their country, and the peace of all mankind.
Unfolding against the backdrop of an Israeli/U.S. strike against Iran and the planned economic overthrow of the European Union by the sinister, secret head of the international Muslim Brotherhood, The Aleppo Code is a heart-pounding race. Brennan takes an epic story on a grand scale and tells it primarily through the eyes of one man who is desperately trying to save the world as he follows God's purpose for his life.

Terry Brennan is the award-winning author of The Sacred Cipher and The Brotherhood Conspiracy, the first two books in The Jerusalem Prophecies. Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! In this episode I speak with Nabeel Qureshi about his new book Answering Jihad: A Better Way Forward (Zondervan, 2016).
About the Book:
From New York Times bestselling author and former Muslim Nabeel Qureshi comes this personal, challenging, and respectful answer to the many questions surrounding jihad, the rise of ISIS, and Islamic terrorism.
San Bernardino was the most lethal terror attack on American soil since 9/11, and it came on the heels of a coordinated assault on Paris. There is no question that innocents were slaughtered in the name of Allah and in the way of jihad, but do the terrorists’ actions actually reflect the religion of Islam? The answer to this question is more pressing than ever, as waves of Muslim refugees arrive in the West seeking shelter from the violent ideology of ISIS.
Setting aside speculations and competing voices, what really is jihad? How are we to understand jihad in relation to our Muslim neighbors and friends? Why is there such a surge of Islamist terrorism in the world today, and how are we to respond?
In Answering Jihad, bestselling author Nabeel Qureshi (Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus) answers these questions from the perspective of a former Muslim who is deeply concerned for both his Muslim family and his American homeland.
About the Author:
Nabeel Qureshi is a speaker with Ravi Zacharias International Ministries. He holds an MD from Eastern Virginia Medical School, an MA in Christian apologetics from Biola University, and an MA in religion from Duke University.

Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! In this episode I speak with Sommer Floyd about her about her new album Ray of Light.
About Sommer Floyd:
If you look up "The Girl Next Door" in the dictionary, chances are the definition will be accompanied by a picture of Sommer Floyd.
Born and raised the the Texas Hill Country, Sommer was an honor roll student, gifted athlete, beauty queen, and genuinely nice person. Voted "Class Favorite" by her high school classmates, Sommer was the quintessential cheerleader, earning four individual high school All American designations, and three team National Championships.
Attending college on a cheerleading scholarship, Sommer was designated a college All American as a freshman, an almost unheard of accomplishment. She ran on the varsity track team, played tennis, showed livestock, participated in rodeos, earned her Deep Sea Diving certification...
Oh, and she sings.
While Sommer certainly has all the credentials for The Girl Next Door, she is also 100 percent human. And she is the first to admit, in addition to all the accolades, she has made her share of mistakes.
"As a teenage girl I disappointed myself with some of the choices I made," she confesses.
One of those choices resulted in an unhealthy relationship, and the out-of-wedlock conception of her daughter, Heidi.
Broken-hearted, at the lowest point of her life, Sommer returned home to her loving, supportive family where she dug deep into God's faithfulness. As she reconnected with the God of her youth, songs began to pour forth.
"Putting my brokenness on paper helped to get me through the hard times," Sommer says, "and the lyrics started to turn into worship."
Sommer's experience of brokenness and restoration resonated strongly throughout her community, opening doors for her to share her music and lead worship at churches and charity events throughout the Texas Hill Country.
Her fetching vocals, ear-pleasing melodies and spiritually mature lyrics caught the ear of multi-Dove Award winning producer, Steven V. Taylor, and Sommer soon found herself in Franklin, Tennessee with some of Nashville's finest musicians, recording her debut CD at the legendary Dark Horse Recording Studio.
Ray of Light is slated for release in May, 2016.

God is not surprised by any storms in our lives. In fact, we often see Him most during these difficult times. As a rapid response chaplain for the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team, Ginger Sanders has seen Him firsthand. She shares her experiences and those of other chaplains in He Goes Before Us, a collection of thirty-one stories from the front lines of both natural and man-made disasters.
Trained and often sent out on a moment’s notice when catastrophe strikes, the chaplains give physical, emotional, and spiritual care to those who need it most. From the floods of Iowa to the scene of the horrific theater shooting in Aurora, Colorado, Ginger and her fellow chaplains continually see God at work. Lives are changed and souls are saved through His amazing hand.
Each story in this collection is unique. Chaplains pray with a group of teenagers after the Sandy Hook Elementary tragedy, save a man on the verge of suicide, and help a Japanese woman turn to Christ. In every situation, the chaplains see the dramatic presence of God even before they arrive, proving that only God can orchestrate these situations.
Filled with love and hope, He Goes Before Us is an uplifting and moving testament to the power of the Gospel.
Round Eyes is based on the true story of Jamie, an adopted son, first realizing he is slightly different from his parents. It helps children and parents to understand that what is on the outside is just how people look; what is on the inside is what really counts. There is joy when families can laugh together, knowing the love for each other is what makes a difference. We know we have a God who is answering prayers around the world and delights in bringing happiness and hope to families.

Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! In this episode I speak with author Brian W. Thomas about his new book Wittenberg Vs. Geneva: A Biblical Bout in 7 Rounds on the Doctrines that Divide (New Reformation Press, 2016).
About The Book:
What are the differences between Lutherans and Calvinists, and do they really matter? In Wittenberg vs. Geneva, Brian Thomas provides a biblical defense of the key doctrines that have divided the Lutheran and Reformed traditions for nearly five centuries. It is especially written to help those who may have an interest in the Lutheran church, but are concerned that her stance on doctrines like predestination or the sacraments may not have biblical support. To get to the heart of the matter, Pastor Thomas focuses solely upon those crucial scriptural texts that have led Lutheran and Reformed scholars down different paths to disparate conclusions as he spars with popular Calvinist theologians from the past and the present.
About the Author:
Brian W. Thomas is a Lutheran pastor, writer, and speaker from the Pacific Northwest. He has had the privilege of serving churches in California and Washington, lecturing at the University of San Diego, and teaching the Bible all over the world. Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! In this episode I speak with worship leader Daryl Boyer about his new album The Cleansing: A New Creation, A New Identity, A Brand New Day.
About Daryl Boyer:
Daryl grew up spending most of his life in Jackson, Michigan and is currently living In Ocean City, New Jersey with his wife and 3 daughters. Daryl grew up loving all things music, and quickly realized that music centered around worship to Jesus was an even greater experience. Daryl was an active part of his church and youth group growing up and went on to attend Spring arbor University to study music ministry and education. It was during this time Daryl had his first opportunities ministering on a larger scale while leading two different music groups at various churches and concert venues as they traveled around playing music and talking about the Lord. During this time he was able to really gain his deepest insight into the love of God and really begin to see how important his role was in music to help bridge that gap in the worship experience as an instrument of God. "There is something beyond words within the collective worship experience when a room full of people seeking the Lord are singing at the top of there lungs pouring out their hearts as one. " There is something amazing about a church congregation choosing to step out and make a vow before God that they want more, they want to go deeper.
As Daryl continued to recognize his calling to connect people to God in a deeper experience through music and teaching, he was led to step out into various positions over the span of the last 16 years ranging from Youth Pastor to Worship Director. Along with continuing to serve within various church callings, Daryl has maintained his songwriting and desire to bring uplifting music to people across the world through various recordings and concerts. Along with the music, God has led Daryl's pursuit to now intertwine intense worship with a teaching focus that will draw our churches back to a sold out, on fire form of Christianity. The aim of Daryl's worship and targeted teaching focus, is to relight a fire for the move of the Holy Spirit in our daily walk. We must learn to yield to the Holy Spirit living in us to be empowered to walk in the power and Authority God intended us to. "God wants for us to walk tall, Drink deep from the flow of the Spirit, press in with unshakable faith, and be fully filled up in Him. In Christ we can shine brightly like the sun piercing through the darkness. We can be strong and bold, and full of Godly flavor in a world that is watered down. The world is thirsting for the flow of the Lord to make them new and flood there hearts with love and truth." (Daryl Boyer)

Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! Today I speak with Robby Dawkins about his new book Identity Thief: Exposing Satan's Plan to Steal Your Purpose, Passion and Power (Chosen Books, 2015). In this interview we discuss the following:
About the Book:
Since the Garden of Eden, our true identities have been hacked--stolen and reprogrammed by Satan.
We were made for great things . . . but we live as though we're powerless. We were made in the image of a limitless God . . . but we walk through our daily lives as though we're inadequate.
God has an amazing plan for us. And the enemy is short-circuiting it.
When we don't recognize who we really are, we limit God. But when we grasp the truth of who we are in Christ, we can walk with authority into the realm of power reserved for each of God's children. We can heal the sick, cast out demons and deliver the captives.
We can see miracles and make a lasting impact for the Kingdom.
Don't settle for the glass ceiling constructed from the enemy's lies. Break through it. Exchange fear and doubt for a life of radical possibility.
Reclaim your true identity . . . and change the world.
About the Author:
Robby Dawkins travels extensively as an itinerant minister, writer and speaker, crossing denominational lines to equip believers in power evangelism. He's spoken in more than 45 countries, including some of the most dangerous nations, and has been featured in numerous documentaries and media outlets. He and his wife, Angie, have six sons and live outside the Chicago area.

Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! Today I speak with David Britton about his latest holiday album titled Christmas. Here are some of the topics and questions we cover in the interview:
About the Album:
Christmas, which released digitally last year and released to brick & mortar retailers on October 9, 2015, showcases the unique ability of the classically trained Britton, who has performed at Carnegie Hall and with opera companies around the world, to effortlessly merge his diverse influences. He wraps his incredibly rich pop-classical sound (with a twist of anthemic rock) into and around these timeless holiday classics. The result is a poignant collection of cozy favorites and a blend of powerful yet intimate moments, custom made for the Christmas season.
Britton encourages listeners to get cozy with his warm and inviting rendition of "The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting)," before closing the project with another original, "Sing Noel," written by Billy Smiley and CCM legend Scott Wesley Brown. On this lovely Christmas hymn, Britton shares the microphone with Christine Dente from Out of the Grey.
"In a world that is full of so much turmoil and pain, it is my goal to use music to shed a glimmer of light; to bring comfort to those that grieve, peace to those at war, hope to those that fail, encouragement to those that feel alone, joy to those in despair," says Britton. "I am grateful for the opportunity to create music that does not fit within any specific genre, that allows me to leverage the unorthodox musical influences of my life, that people of all generations and tastes may find something that speaks to them. Above all else, it is my desire that those who listen may see past me to the One who created all things."
About the Artist:
World-class Baritone and Nashville recording artist, David Britton, brings a unique sound to his audiences, by blending his big voice with a signature orchestral rock instrumentation. This approach is the result of Britton’s eclectic musical heritage, which included drumming in a rock band through high school and college, before beginning a career in opera. Over the past couple of years, Britton has emerged onto the scene with albums which take full advantage of both the classical training as well as the rock style creating music that is at times both intimate and grandiose.

Welcome to the Shaun Tabatt Show! In this episode I speak with Lee Fields about his and Milton Eng's great new book book Devotions on the Hebrew Bible: 54 Reflections to Inspire and Instruct (Zondervan Academic, 2015). Here are some of the topics and questions we cover in the interview:
About The Book:
Zondervan is known for its excellent resources in biblical languages, and many of our resources encourage professors, students, and pastors to continue to use their Hebrew and Greek Bibles beyond their seminary years.
Devotions on the Hebrew Bible continues on this path of excellence by introducing these devotions—based on a careful reading and study of the Hebrew Bible—written by some of the top biblical language scholars of today. Contributors include Daniel I. Block, Mark J. Boda, Hélène Dallaire, Nancy Erickson, Karen H. Jobes, Bo H. Lim, Tremper Longman III, Miles V. Van Pelt, and Bruce K. Waltke, among others.
Devotions on the Hebrew Bible contains a devotion on every book in the Hebrew Bible and can be used as weekly devotional or as a supplemental resource throughout a semester or sequence of courses. The main point each devotion offers comes from a careful reading of the passage in the Hebrew Bible, not from the English Bible. The authors use a variety of exegetical approaches in their devotions: grammatical, lexical, rhetorical, sociohistorical, linguistic, etc. Each devotion closes with a practical application.
About The Author:
Lee M. Fields is a trained Hebrew scholar with a PhD from Hebrew Union College. He is the chair of the Department of Biblical Studies at Mid-Atlantic Christian University (formerly Roanoke Bible College), Elizabeth City, NC.

Welcome to the Shaun Tabatt Show! In this episode I speak with David Croteau about his recent book Urban Legends of the New Testament: 40 Common Misconceptions (B&H Academic, 2015). Here are some of the topics and questions we cover in the interview:
About The book:
Urban Legends of the New Testament surveys forty of the most commonly misinterpreted passages in the New Testament. These “urban legends” often arise because interpreters neglect a passage’s context, misuse historical background information, or misunderstand the Greek language. For each New Testament text, professor David Croteau describes the popular, incorrect interpretation and then carefully interprets the passage within its literary and historical context. Careful attention is given to sound principles of biblical interpretation to guide readers through the process and reach a more accurate understanding of each text’s meaning. QR codes have been inserted at various points throughout the book. By scanning the code with your mobile device, you can view a video of David Croteau addressing a specific urban legend.
With examples from the Gospels, Acts, the Epistles, and Revelation, Urban Legends of the New Testament will not only help readers avoid missteps in these forty texts but also provide a model for engaging in correct interpretation of other New Testament passages.

David A. Croteau (Ph.D., Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary) is professor of New Testament and Greek in the Seminary and School of Ministry at Columbia International University. Welcome to the Shaun Tabatt Show! Today my special guest is Scott Keith and we’re talking about his new book Being Dad: Father as a Picture of God’s Grace (NRP Books, 2015).
About The Book:
Being Dad deals with the way fathers, and the subject of fatherhood, are treated in modern culture. Dr. Keith brings his experience with family, students, great mentors and friends to bear on this subject which is crying out for attention. Equally, he brings his Christian faith, a scholarly eye for detail and an ear for story along on the journey and works with the reader to navigate a path to a better country where the Father blesses His children and is honored.
About The Author:
Scott Keith is, first and foremost, a family man. Having raised three children side by side with his wife, Joy, the consolations and challenges surrounding the roles of husband and father are his main focus. With experience in college and youth-camp administration, he has felt the pain and difficulty arising from the lack of a father in the home. He hopes his experience will benefit others. He is the Associate Dean of Residential Education Services at Concordia University in Irvine, California, the Director of Operations at New Reformation Publications, a fellow of The Thinking Fellowship, and involved in promoting the work of the 1517 Legacy Project.

Welcome to the Shaun Tabatt Show! Today my special guest is Jean Watson and we're talking about her new album Steady My Gaze.
About The Album:
Steady My Gaze features an abundance of Celtic-infused violin, Watson's signature haunting vocals, along with the special treat of stellar fret-work from master guitarist, Phil Keaggy and guest vocals from Tree63's John Ellis!
About The Artist:
Internationally acclaimed singer/songwriter and classically trained violinist Jean Watson delved into the Christian recording world in 2003. During a time of great brokenness in Jean’s life, her landlord accidentally heard her sing and donated money to make her first CD! She gave the CD away to anyone who would listen and soon was singing and speaking in churches, coffeehouses, homeless shelters, and prisons, sharing the story of how God was transforming her life.
Since that time, Jean’s voice and testimony of God's grace and healing have touched thousands of lives around the world. She has recorded seven albums to date including her latest CD, Steady My Gaze featuring Grammy nominated producer Billy Smiley, guitar virtuoso Phil Keaggy, and John Ellis of ‘Tree63’.
Jean’s musical style is eclectic and features an abundance of celtic-infused violin and Watson’s signature haunting vocals. She has been honored four times as the Best Female Praise and Worship Artist USA by the UK Christian Music Alliance. Watson can be heard worldwide on UCB Radio Ireland where she hosts a daily inspirational radio show. Watson has appeared on The 700 Club, TBN's Praise The Lord, Cornerstone Television Network's flagship show, Real Life, LeSea TV's The Harvest Show, CTN's Bridges and many more media outlets across the globe.
Though her ministry is now international, Jean is still passionate about bringing hope to the hopeless through words and music. Having performed in majestic cathedrals and grand concert halls, her favorite venues are still homeless shelters and prisons. When she is not traveling, Jean enjoys playing violin in the Kalamazoo Symphony, spending time with her family, and riding her horse, Rosie.
