Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! In this episode I facilitate a roundtable discussion with Adam Barr, Ron Citlau and David Kyle Foster on LGBTQ issues in church, culture and ministry. Here are the topics covered in this conversation.

  • What’s the state of the culture and church on LGBTQ issues? What were some of the significant changes we saw in 2015?
  • How does a Gospel-centered approach to sexual wholeness look different than an approach that simply focuses on behavior modification/moral improvement?
  • What’s the connection between our biblical theology of sexuality and a pastoral approach to people who struggle?
  • How can we move from viewing this discussion as a “culture war” issue to a real-world ministry challenge?
  • How can we parent our children as they enter a world where gender identity and sexual orientation are approached in ways that fundamentally oppose our faith?
  • In your opinion, what books have been a helpful contributor to the conversation? What books concern you? Why?

About Today's Guests:

Adam T. Barr (MDiv, ThM) serves as lead pastor at Peace Church near Grand Rapids Michigan. In addition to his work in the local church, Adam launched and leads Borderlands, a ministry that fosters next generation leadership development and served on the board of RCA Integrity, a renwal movement in the Reformed Church in America. Adam lives with his wife, Jennifer, and four sons.

In his work as a writer, Adam travels the borderlands where faith and life intersect, attempting to help readers encounter Scripture as God's Word, clear, compelling and alive.

Ron Citlau graduated from the University of California, Riverside and Western Theological Seminary. He has served in ministry positions in Southern California and Kansas City. He is the pastor of Calvary Church in Orland Park, Illinois, part of the Reformed Church in America.

Ron struggled with same-sex attraction his whole life and has worked with and walked alongside many others who have struggled with sexual brokenness, as well as equipping pastoral leaders to serve those dealing with sexual sin. He also worked with Andrew Comiskey, producing curriculum on sexual healing now used by Desert Stream Ministries in hundreds of churches throughout the country. When he isn't working, he loves to be with his wife, Amy, and their four boys: Jack, Sawyer, Eli, and Crosby.

David Kyle Foster, founder of Mastering Life Ministries, holds an M.Div. from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and a D.Min. from Trinity School for Ministry. He also hosts Pure Passion, a televised outreach equipping believers to minister to those trapped in sexual sin and brokenness.

Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! Today I speak with Robby Dawkins about his new book Identity Thief: Exposing Satan's Plan to Steal Your Purpose, Passion and Power (Chosen Books, 2015). In this interview we discuss the following:

  • Brief introduction to who Robby is and his ministry.
  • Robby shares a few personal and ministry highlights from 2015.
  • Who is the identity thief?
  • Robby had some demonic experiences in his childhood. He shares about how the identity thief was at work, even before he was born.
  • Robby and Angie faced many difficult situations in the church and in ministry. However, rather than being jaded or anti-church, they're continuing to serve the church and are doing ministry all these years later. Robby explains how God has used those circumstances to prepare them for the season they're in right now.
  • How does the identity thief use fear?
  • Can the Identity Thief attack not only individuals, but also churches and institutions?
  • How will God use Identity Thief to challenge and impact readers?
  • Where can people go on the web to find out more about Robby's ministry and his books?

About the Book:
Since the Garden of Eden, our true identities have been hacked--stolen and reprogrammed by Satan.

We were made for great things . . . but we live as though we're powerless. We were made in the image of a limitless God . . . but we walk through our daily lives as though we're inadequate.

God has an amazing plan for us. And the enemy is short-circuiting it.

When we don't recognize who we really are, we limit God. But when we grasp the truth of who we are in Christ, we can walk with authority into the realm of power reserved for each of God's children. We can heal the sick, cast out demons and deliver the captives.

We can see miracles and make a lasting impact for the Kingdom.

Don't settle for the glass ceiling constructed from the enemy's lies. Break through it. Exchange fear and doubt for a life of radical possibility.

Reclaim your true identity . . . and change the world.

About the Author:
Robby Dawkins travels extensively as an itinerant minister, writer and speaker, crossing denominational lines to equip believers in power evangelism. He's spoken in more than 45 countries, including some of the most dangerous nations, and has been featured in numerous documentaries and media outlets. He and his wife, Angie, have six sons and live outside the Chicago area.

  • Beni shares about the Healthy & Free curriculum kit and how a church or small group might put those resources to use.
  • Beni wraps up our conversation with an encouraging word about how God can use Healthy & Free to change your life in 2016.

About the Book:
Beni Johnson received a life-changing revelation about how anyone can start walking in holistic health—including you! Jesus died for your spirit, soul, and body. This means you can experience His resurrection life in all three areas!

Christians should be the healthiest people on Earth because they understand God has made their bodies His temple. Unfortunately, many people focus on one area of health while neglecting another. This can lead to spiritual disconnection, bad eating habits, depression, poor rest, and lack of exercise.

In Healthy & Free, Beni shows you how to:

  • Find your why: Learn the motivating secret to pursuing a healthy lifestyle as your new normal.
  • Unlock the connection: Discover the many ways your spirit, soul and body are interconnected and how health in one areas directly effects another.
  • Start simple: Receive practical and easy-to-implement steps to begin walking in health right now.

The Great Physician desires you to walk in Heaven’s health. Get aligned with God’s divine design today and experience freedom—body, soul and spirit!
