Welcome to the Shaun Tabatt Show! In this episode I speak with Michael Williams about his new book The Biblical Hebrew Companion for Bible Software Users: Grammatical Terms Explained for Exegesis (Zondervan Academic, 2015).

About The Book:
The Biblical Hebrew Companion for Bible Software Users helps users understand the exegetical significance of Hebrew grammatical terminology identified by the program. This resource provides students who utilize biblical language software the insight they need to make sense of the data provided by the program, giving them deeper insight into the biblical text that they could not get by solely reading an English translation. The Biblical Hebrew Companion for Bible Software Users is ideally suited for:

  • Pastors and ministry leaders who may have learned Hebrew at one time but have experienced the loss of much of that learning
  • College and seminary students who are learning Hebrew and need a guide to help understand the significance of the grammatical terminology
  • Bible software users who never formally learned Hebrew in the classroom and need help understanding the meaning of the terms they encounter

With grammatical terms laid out and discussed in an intuitive and user-friendly format readers can now spend time focusing on exegesis and applying their findings to their preaching, teachings, study, and writing instead of puzzling over the significance of grammatical terminology and how to apply it.

About The Author:
Michael Williams (PhD, University of Pennsylvania) is Professor of Old Testament at Calvin Theological Seminary and a member of the NIV Committee on Bible Translation. He is the author of Deception in Genesis, The Prophet and His Message, Basics of Ancient Ugaritic, and How to Read the Bible through the Jesus Lens, and editor and contributor of Mishneh Todah. His passion is to equip students with knowledge of the Old Testament and its languages so that they may grow in their comprehension and appreciation of redemptive history and be adequately prepared to promote and defend the faith through word and action. Michael resides in Grand Rapids, MI, with his wife, Dawn.

About The Book:
Being Dad deals with the way fathers, and the subject of fatherhood, are treated in modern culture. Dr. Keith brings his experience with family, students, great mentors and friends to bear on this subject which is crying out for attention. Equally, he brings his Christian faith, a scholarly eye for detail and an ear for story along on the journey and works with the reader to navigate a path to a better country where the Father blesses His children and is honored.

About The Author:
Scott Keith is, first and foremost, a family man. Having raised three children side by side with his wife, Joy, the consolations and challenges surrounding the roles of husband and father are his main focus. He is the Associate Dean of Residential Education Services at Concordia University in Irvine, California, the Director of Operations at New Reformation Publications, a fellow of The Thinking Fellowship, and involved in promoting the work of the 1517 Legacy Project.

Welcome to the Shaun Tabatt Show! Today my special guest is Jean Watson and we're talking about her album Steady My Gaze.

About The Album:
Steady My Gaze features an abundance of Celtic-infused violin, Watson's signature haunting vocals, along with the special treat of stellar fret-work from master guitarist, Phil Keaggy and guest vocals from Tree63's John Ellis!

About The Artist:
Internationally acclaimed singer/songwriter and classically trained violinist Jean Watson delved into the Christian recording world in 2003. During a time of great brokenness in Jean’s life, her landlord accidentally heard her sing and donated money to make her first CD! She gave the CD away to anyone who would listen and soon was singing and speaking in churches, coffeehouses, homeless shelters, and prisons, sharing the story of how God was transforming her life.

Since that time, Jean’s voice and testimony of God's grace and healing have touched thousands of lives around the world. She has recorded seven albums to date including her latest CD, Steady My Gaze featuring Grammy-nominated producer Billy Smiley, guitar virtuoso Phil Keaggy, and John Ellis of ‘Tree63’.

Jean’s musical style is eclectic and features an abundance of celtic-infused violin and Watson’s signature haunting vocals. She has been honored four times as the Best Female Praise and Worship Artist USA by the UK Christian Music Alliance. Watson can be heard worldwide on UCB Radio Ireland where she hosts a daily inspirational radio show. Watson has appeared on The 700 Club, TBN's Praise The Lord, Cornerstone Television Network's flagship show, Real Life, LeSea TV's The Harvest Show, CTN's Bridges and many more media outlets across the globe.

Though her ministry is now international, Jean is still passionate about bringing hope to the hopeless through words and music. Having performed in majestic cathedrals and grand concert halls, her favorite venues are still homeless shelters and prisons. When she is not traveling, Jean enjoys playing violin in the Kalamazoo Symphony, spending time with her family, and riding her horse, Rosie.

Welcome to the Shaun Tabatt Show! Today my special guest is Jefferson Bethke and we're talking about his book It's Not What You Think: Why Christianity Is About So Much More Than Going to Heaven When You Die (Thomas Nelson, 2015).

About The Book:
New York Times best-selling author of Jesus > Religion challenges the accepted thinking of contemporary Christianity with the world-changing message Jesus actually brought.

Jesus was most upset at people for seeing but not seeing. For missing it. For succumbing to the danger and idolatry of forcing God into preconceived ideals. What if there were a better way? What if Jesus came not to help people escape the world but rather to restore it? Best-selling author and spoken word artist Jefferson Bethke says that “Christians have the greatest story ever told but we aren’t telling it.” So in this new book, Bethke tells that story anew, presenting God’s truths from the Old and the New Testaments as the challenging and compelling story that it is—a grand narrative with God at the center. And in doing so, Bethke reminds readers of the life-changing message of Jesus that turned the world upside-down, a world that God is putting back together.

About The Author:
Jefferson Bethke is the author of New York Times bestseller Jesus > Religion. Bethke’s message connects at a heart level with an audience ranging from atheists to nationally recognized religious leaders. He lives in Maui, Hawaii.
