Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! Today I speak with Dr. Sam Serio about his new book Sensitive Preaching to the Sexually Hurting (Kregel, 2016).

About the Book:  Today's church has sadly failed to minister to men and women deeply affected by porn, abortion, rape, casual sex, a sexless marriage, same-sex attraction, or childhood sexual abuse. Church leaders know these broken people sit in their pews. What they don't know is what to say to them. Those who would speak out directly from the pulpit worry that they will be unwise or insensitive, whatever their intent to the contrary. They may even fear being fired and losing their ministry altogether.

The truth is that seminary curriculums rarely prepare preachers to talk about sex in their sermons. Despite the pervasiveness of sexual wounds in the church, preachers tend to either ignore them and say nothing or abhor them without nuance and condemn. Sam Serio posits a powerful and necessary middle ground: preaching that offers forgiveness, transformation, and restoration.

Sensitive Preaching to the Sexually Hurting is a ready-to-use resource written from a preaching perspective. Serio examines the causes and consequences of the seven most difficult sexual issues of today. Moreover, he provides appropriate wording to use in crafting sermons, along with corresponding Scripture texts. He examines how preachers can prepare their churches, their hearts, and their sermons for the topic, and how these can all work together to build a healthier future for their congregations and the wider church body.

About the Author:  Dr. Sam Serio writes with more than thirty-five years of experience in preaching and counseling. He has pastored churches, conducted seminars, and currently counsels individuals who daily feel the deep emotional effects of sexual sin or pain. Dr. Serio is founder and president of Healing Sexual Hurt where people from all around the world seek his words of biblical wisdom and warmth in these taboo topics. He has published various articles and is available to speak at churches and conferences. Dr. Serio lives with his family in Atlanta, Georgia.

Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! Today I speak with Will Hart about his new book Godrunner: Your Place in God's Big Story (Whitaker House, 2016).

Here's a preview of what we cover in the interview:

  • The Will Hart origin story
  • Captain Bob, the unlikeliest of mentors
  • What is impartation? Why is the laying on of hands important?
  • What to expect when receiving prayer or impartation at a conference or ministry event
  • When God's "suddenlies" come our way, how do we choose to take risks?
  • Update on the work of Iris Global

About the Book:  Will Hart has already lived this book. He’s been running for God since he was a teenager—whether conducting crusades and conferences, ministering on the streets, praying for schoolchildren, preaching to young adults, or disrupting demonic strongholds, Will Hart is “the donkey God rides in on” and his collection of miracle stories keeps growing.

Now he wants to share his remarkable story with the rest of us. Will’s message is straightforward: anyone can be used by God in remarkable ways, if they will only jump out of their comfort zones, dream His best for their lives, and run like the wind with the individualized anointing that His Spirit sends.

In short, if they will only find their place in His big story.

About the Author:  Will Hart takes the simplicity of the gospel and power of the Holy Spirit wherever he goes. Whether it is the jungles of Congo, the streets of Thailand, or a conference in the US, he is expectant and confident in the Holy Spirit showing up in power. Will traveled for three years with Randy Clark. Will then moved with his wife, Musy, to Mozambique to minister with Rolland and Heidi Baker. He is now COO of Iris Global.

Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! Today I speak with Jonathan Bernis, President and CEO of Jewish Voice Ministries International, about his new book A Rabbi Looks at the Supernatural: A Revealing Look at Angels, Demons, Miracles, Heaven and Hell (Chosen Books, 2016).

Here are some of the topics we cover in this interview:

  • Jonathan's background and conversion story
  • What it means to be a messianic Jew
  • The history of Jewish Voice Ministries International
  • Why Jonathan decided to write a book on the supernatural
  • What does God's word say about the existence of supernatural beings like angels, demons, and ghosts?
  • Does God heal people today? If so, why isn't everybody healed?
  • Some of the miracles Jonathan has witnessed over the course of his ministry
  • Jonathan explains how Christians can use the supernatural as a conversation bridge when talking to non-believers.

About the Book:  There is a supernatural world--and it's just as real as our physical one.

Dispelling the confusion, misinformation and doubt so prevalent today, Messianic Rabbi Jonathan Bernis takes you on an adventure into the heart of the supernatural realm. He'll transport you beyond what you can see, hear, taste, touch and smell to uncover the biblical truth about things like angels and demons, miracles, heaven and hell, good and evil. And he will answer questions such as:

  • Is there more to life than we know--a purpose and plan for our existence?
  • Is there a supernatural realm of angels, demons, seers, prophets, spirits and the like--or is it all in our minds?
  • If God is so powerful, how did the devil get so strong?
  • If God is so good, why do bad things happen?
  • If God is a healer, why are people still sick?
  • Are heaven and hell real or imaginary? Where are they? Who goes where?

Above all, you will discover that you are uniquely wired to live a supernatural existence here and now--and that there is a faithful, loving God who longs for you to embrace with confidence His supernatural work in your own life.

About the Author:  Jonathan Bernis is a Jewish believer in Jesus who has been active in Messianic Jewish ministry for more than thirty years and who currently serves as president and CEO of Jewish Voice Ministries International (JVMI).

JVMI's mission is two-fold: proclaiming the Gospel to the Jew first and also to the nations (Romans 1:16), and equipping the Church--providing education about the Hebraic roots of Christianity, the Church's responsibility to Israel and the Jewish People, and keys to effectively and sensitively sharing Messiah with the Jewish People. Jonathan hosts JVMI's daily television program, Jewish Voice with Jonathan Bernis, broadcast to over 575 million homes worldwide through local, cable and satellite networks as well as the Internet.

JVMI also conducts humanitarian/medical outreaches to some of the most impoverished Jewish communities on earth, including regular outreaches in Ethiopia, Zimbabwe and other points of need around the world. JVMI also ministers through large-scale international festivals of Jewish music and dance.

Jonathan is the author of several books, including A Hope and A Future, A Rabbi Looks at the Afterlife, A Rabbi Looks at the Last Days and A Rabbi Looks at Jesus of Nazareth. Jonathan and his wife, Elisangela, reside in Phoenix, Arizona, with their two daughters.

Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! In this episode I speak with popular global speaker and prolific author Leonard Sweet about his new book The Bad Habits of Jesus: Showing Us the Way to Live Right in a World Gone Wrong (Tyndale, 2016).

About the Book:  Did Jesus have bad habits?

In our culture, we have a tendency to describe Jesus in ways that soften his revolutionary edge. Len Sweet uncovers and presents to us the offensive and scandalous Jesus described in the Bible.

  • Did he disappear when people needed him most? Yes.
  • Did he refuse to answer questions directly? Yes.
  • Did Jesus offend the people of his day? Absolutely, yes.

Popular author and speaker Len Sweet examines the words and actions of Jesus and places them in context. We need to understand who Jesus really is if we are to follow him wholeheartedly. That is why it is so crucial to see the “rebellious rabbi” for who he is and not for who we may imagine him to be.

The Bad Habits of Jesus will help you see the untamed Jesus, who isn’t sanitized for our culture. That Jesus just might transform how you live out your life.

About the Author:  Leonard Sweet is a popular global speaker and prolific author, and he holds professorships at George Fox University, Drew University, and Tabor College. His daily social media postings have made him one of the most influential Christians in the US and around the world. Leonard is also the premier writer and owner of the fast-growing, innovative preaching resource preachthestory.com and has published more than 1,500 sermons.

Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! Today I speak with international speaker and spoken word poet David Bowden about his wonderful new book When God Isn't There: Why God Is Farther than You Think but Closer than You Dare Imagine (Thomas Nelson, 2016).

About the Book:  Why does God feel so far away? Why is my worship so empty? Has God left me?

David Bowden knows these questions firsthand, having wrestled for years with God’s apparent absence and studying what the Bible says about it. In this new book, Bowden tackles the subject head-on, finding the key to understanding it in the Bible’s depiction of a God who is infinitely far from us, free to move where he wants, but who chooses to come near in the person of Jesus.

A resource of encouragement for those who struggle with feeling God’s absence and a wake-up call to those who take God’s presence for granted, When God Isn’t There will forever change your understanding of why God sometimes seems to vanish and how he can be found again.

About the Author: David Bowden is an international speaker and performer known best for his craft of spoken word poetry. He has performed his poems all around the world for hundreds of thousands of people, and his videos have attracted millions of views online. Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! Today I sit down with Scott Sauls to explore some of the ideas found in his spectacular new book Befriend: Create Belonging in an Age of Judgment, Isolation, and Fear (Tyndale House Publishers, 2016).

About the Book:  Is real friendship too risky?

We live in a world where real friendship is hard to find. Suspicious of others and insecure about ourselves, we retreat into the safety of our small, self-made worlds. Now more than ever, it’s easy to avoid people with whom we disagree or whose life experiences don’t mirror our own. Safe among like-minded peers and digital “friends,” we really don’t have to engage with those who can challenge and enhance our limited perspectives. Tragically, even the church can become a place that minimizes diversity and reinforces isolation.

Jesus models a much richer vision of friendship. Scott Sauls, pastor and teacher, invites you to see the breadth of Christ’s love in this book, BeFriend. Join Scott on this journey through twenty-one meditations to inspire actively pursuing God’s love through expanding your circle of friends.

Scott has met too many people whose first impulse is to fence off their lives with relational barriers that only end up starving their own souls.

Yes, it’s true: Real friendship is costly. Love does make us vulnerable. But without risk, our lives will remain impoverished.

Join Scott in BeFriend as he summons you toward diverse friendship that can enrich your life and, in the process, reveal a better version of yourself.

About the Author:  In March 2012, Scott began serving as the Senior Minister of Christ Presbyterian Church in Nashville, Tennessee, where he lives with his wife Patti and two daughters, Abby and Ellie. Previously, Scott was a lead and preaching pastor for Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York City, where he worked alongside Dr. Timothy Keller. He has also planted churches in Kansas City and St. Louis, and is a frequent speaker at conferences, leadership retreats, and to university students.

Formative experiences have included being an athlete, living in a global city, and suffering through a season of anxiety and depression. Influential voices in Scott’s life include Tim Keller, CS Lewis, Leslie Newbigin, Soong Chan Rah, Jonathan Edwards, Johnny Cash, Joni Eareckson Tada, Miroslav Volf, Paul Tripp, Ann Voskamp, Martin Luther King, Jr., Marva Dawn, and NT Wright. In his free time you might find Scott relaxing with people or a book, strumming his Gibson J-45, hiking, eating Edley’s BBQ, enjoying live music, or cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals and North Carolina Tar Heels.

Scott has authored two books: Jesus Outside the Lines and Befriend.

Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! Sommer Floyd returns to the show today to share about her new album Ray of Light.

About Sommer Floyd:  Emerging recording artist SommerFloyd has unveiled her highly anticipated debut CD, Ray of Light. The new CD, which was produced by Multi-Dove Award winner Steven V. Taylor (Michael W. Smith, Matt Redman, Veggie Tales) and recorded at the legendary Dark Horse Recording Studio in Franklin, Tennessee, released to retail Friday, November 11, 2016, through SommerFloyd Music.

A joyful amalgamation of sparkling Pop/Rock, New Country and Contemporary Worship, Floyd's inaugural release has drawn comparisons to artists like Kari Jobe, Mia Fieldes, Laura Story and The Band Perry's Kimberly Perry. Fan favorites include the celebratory "Children of God," the fun and encouraging Pop-Country anthem, "Drop and Run," and the gently meandering confessional ballad, "I Need You."

Floyd allows her natural effervescence to shine through on the exuberant "Ray of Light," a song she says was inspired by a lazy summer afternoon spent in the company of her young daughter, Heidi. "We were sitting outside looking up at the sun," she recalls. "I realized, that's how we are supposed to be as believers. We were meant to shine as a ray of light, to illuminate the dark places."

Floyd's love of the great outdoors served as inspiration for a number of other songs on the project, including the upbeat anthem, "Let It Rain," the gently rocking, "Lighthouse," and the slow-burning "Live Like Jesus." She unveils her vulnerable heart in the lovely, yet achingly poignant, "Stronger," a song she wrote for a friend battling leukemia. "I had just gotten off the phone with her husband," she muses.

"She had gone to the emergency room, thinking it was just allergies. I cried out to God, wondering why bad things happen to good people. I still don't have the answers to that question, but I know that the love of God is sufficient for all our needs. And when life gets harder, God makes us stronger. He has destined us to overcome, even when it doesn't look like it from the world's perspective."

Her peace-evoking Contemporary Worship hymn, "How You Love Me," could easily become a staple in church services across the country with its lovely chorus: "You are worthy, worthy/ I fall down at Your feet crying holy, holy/ Your love is all I need and Your beauty takes my breath away from me."

Speaking of hymns that are church staples, Floyd delivers her own unique take on the beloved classic, "Great Is Thy Faithfulness," which is the only song on the project that she didn't write. "The words to this hymn are so powerful that I wanted to include it on the album," she explains.

If you look up "All American Girl" in the dictionary, chances are the definition will be accompanied by a picture of Sommer Floyd. Born and raised in the Texas Hill Country, Floyd was an honor roll student, gifted athlete, beauty queen, and genuinely nice person. Voted "Class Favorite" and "Most Talented" by her high school classmates, Floyd was the quintessential cheerleader, earning four individual high school All American designations and three All Star Team National Championships. Attending college on a cheerleading scholarship, Floyd was designated a college All American as a freshman, an almost unheard of accomplishment. She ran on the varsity track team, played tennis, showed livestock, participated in rodeos and earned her Deep Sea Diving certification.

And she sings. And writes songs.

While Sommer certainly has all the credentials for The All American Girl, she is also 100 percent human. She is the first to admit she has made her share of mistakes. Those poor choices produced a deep level of brokenness, which compelled Sommer to dig deep into God's faithfulness, and reconnect with the God of her youth. The more connected the young woman became with God, the more songs began to flow from her pen.

"Putting my brokenness on paper helped to get me through the hard times," Sommer says, "and the lyrics started to turn into worship."

Her experience of brokenness and restoration resonated strongly throughout her community, opening doors for her to share her music and lead worship at churches and charity events throughout the Texas Hill Country, where she lives with her daughter, Heidi.

Sommer's fetching vocals, ear-pleasing melodies and spiritually mature lyrics caught the ear of her producer, Steven V. Taylor, and she soon found herself in Franklin, Tennessee with some of Nashville's finest musicians, recording her debut CD at the legendary Dark Horse Studios.

Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! Today my special guest is Terri Roberts. She shares about “the happening,” how a mother comes to terms with an experience like this, the amazing power of forgiveness, and the unexpected spheres of ministry God has opened to her over the past decade.

About the Book:  After a son does the unthinkable, how can a mother go on?

On October 2, 2006, a gunman entered an Amish one-room schoolhouse, shooting ten girls, killing five, then finally taking his own life. This is his mother's story. Not only did she lose her precious son through suicide, but she also lost her understanding of him as an honorable man. It was a trauma that none should ever have to face.

But the biggest headlines came when her Amish neighbors did the unimaginable, reaching out to the family of the shooter with comfort and forgiveness. Today Terri lives in harmony with the Amish and has built lasting relationships beyond what anyone could have thought possible. From the grace that the Amish showed Terri's family from day one, to the visits and ongoing care Terri has given to the victims and their families, no one could have foreseen the love and friendship that have been forged from the fires of tragedy.

About Terri Roberts:  Terri Roberts travels the United States and the world speaking about the Nickel Mines Amish school shooting, forgiveness, and hope. She has been interviewed by CBS News, the Associated Press, and Reuters. Terri is a mother of four sons and a grandmother of eleven, including two step-grandchildren. She and her husband, Chuck, live just south of Strasburg, Pennsylvania.

Welcome to the Shaun Tabatt Show! Today Dr. Timothy Dailey returns to the show to discuss his new book Apocalypse Rising: Chaos in the Middle East, the Fall of the West, and Other Signs of the End Times.

About the Book:  In the Middle East, one Christian is killed every five minutes. In the West, riots and moral relativism are corroding the hearts of nations. Across the globe, evil is ruling through violence, genocide, cruelty and destruction.

Does this reign of wickedness mean the end times are upon us?

Jesus warned His disciples that "fearful events" would cause unprecedented devastation at the end of days. In this provocative, page-turning work, bestselling author Dr. Timothy Dailey warns that the end is closer than we think. After decades of researching biblical prophecy, Dr. Dailey connects the dots between history, archaeological findings, firsthand accounts and Scripture, revealing compelling evidence that current events could be the fulfillment of biblical prophecy, including:

  • the cryptic, demonic forces behind ISIS and violent fanaticism in the Middle East
  • how Gog and Magog of Ezekiel's prophecy have haunted human history, wreaking havoc upon great empires
  • the present-day nation that is the mysterious Babylon referred to in Revelation
  • movements of the Antichrist
  • ominous calamities that threaten to instantaneously end life as we know it

Yet under the shadow of the apocalypse, there is hope that the ultimate calamity can be averted through spiritual revival and a return to biblical faith. It's time for us to read the real signs and take a stand.

About Timothy Dailey:  Dr. Timothy Dailey is a Christian scholar and bestselling author whose books have sold more than 300,000 copies. He holds an M.A. from Wheaton College and a Ph.D. from Marquette University. Dr. Dailey has senior-level research and writing experience with major Christian ministries, including working in the public policy arena in Washington, D.C., as well as writing and editing commentaries for a nationally syndicated radio program. He has taught on the college level both at home and abroad, and his writings draw upon insights gained through a decade of overseas cross-cultural ministry. Dr. Dailey and his wife, Rebekka, have five children and live in Northern Virginia.

Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! In this episode I speak with Kenneth Ching about his new book Shattered Prayers: The Testing of a Father’s Faith (Kirkdale Press, 2016).

About the Book:  Kenneth Ching lived a comfortable life--with a great job, a big house, and an easy faith. He went to church and believed in God's goodness. But when his son is born with a serious and rare genetic condition, his life is thrown into terrifying chaos.

In this honest and raw memoir, Ching brings to life his experience of letting go while learning to truly trust the Savior he claims to know. Ching doesn't shy away from asking the hard questions: Why does God answer some prayers but not others? How does prayer work? Is God even listening?

Shattered Prayers is ultimately a story about recognizing God's presence and faithfulness in the midst of brokenness. And how one man thought God ruined his life by giving his son a terrible disease, but eventually realized God was actually fighting to save his faith and his son's life.

About the Author:  Kenneth Ching is an attorney in Reno, Nevada. He has worked as a journalist and law professor and held positions at organizations such as World Vision and Regent University.

Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! In this episode I speak with Jean Watson about new album WONDER.

About the Album:  "The music on WONDER is the most authentically 'me' music I have ever recorded," Watson says. "I believe the music is quite accessible to both the faith-based and general markets, and the opportunity to partner with Naxos to get the music into the hands of music lovers is huge."

"Naxos has great reach into the world music marketplace, so for the first time, my music has the possibility to be offered to audiences beyond the Christian market," she continues. "How amazing to think that people may listen to this music because they love the sound and be drawn closer to God in the process!"

WONDER represents something of a defining moment for the classically-trained singer/songwriter and instrumentalist, who is a fan favorite in the UK. She is especially popular in Ireland, where she has long hosted a daily inspirational radio show which can be heard worldwide on UCB Radio Ireland. So, her affinity for Celtic sound comes as no surprise.

Producer Billy Smiley, who has worked with Watson on her last two projects, suggested highlighting her Celtic-flavored songs and ethereal violin performances on the new CD and moving toward a more world music sound. In doing so, Watson discovered a glorious opportunity to simply be herself, both artistically and spiritually.

Sporting a world music sound that falls lithely between the ethereal, yearning Celtic sound of Maire Brennan and the graceful, poetic lyricism of Enya, Watson deftly tightwalks a line that stretches between ancient themes of grace and mercy, and is anchored by contemporary declarations of worship and adoration. There are exuberant expressions of praise ("Blessed Be Your Name"), hymns of hope ("I Can Hear Your Voice"), psalms of yearning ("Restless"), songs of surrender to the perfect will of the Father ("It Is Well"), and testimonies to the mercy and grace of God ("Everything Can Change," "Amazing Grace").

Whether invested in ardent celebration or lost in pensive worship, there is a humble honesty that runs through each song, that binds them together and points both listener and singer toward the throne of God. WONDER has an otherworldly, ethereal, moving quality which penetrates the heart and transports the listener into an attitude of worship.

In keeping with the world music direction of WONDER, Watson has enlisted the services of a number of musicians from around the globe, including South African John Ellis of Tree63 and former Newsboys drummer Peter Furler from Australia. Steve Hindalong from The Choir provides percussion, and as a special treat, Christian music legend Michael W. Smith appears as a guest accompanist as Watson performs Smith's hit, "I Can Hear Your Voice."

"I am so grateful for this opportunity for my music to reach a wider audience," says Watson. "I can't wait to see what God will do with WONDER!"

About Jean Watson:  Internationally acclaimed singer/songwriter and classically trained violinist Jean Watson delved into the Christian recording world in 2003. During a time of great brokenness in Jean’s life, her landlord accidentally heard her sing and donated money to make her first CD! She gave the CD away to anyone who would listen and soon was singing and speaking in churches, coffeehouses, homeless shelters, and prisons, sharing the story of how God was transforming her life.

Since that time, Jean’s voice and testimony of God's grace and healing have touched thousands of lives around the world. She has recorded seven albums to date including her latest CD, Steady My Gaze featuring Grammy nominated producer Billy Smiley, guitar virtuoso Phil Keaggy, and John Ellis of ‘Tree63’.

Jean’s musical style is eclectic and features an abundance of celtic-infused violin and Watson’s signature haunting vocals. She has been honored four times as the Best Female Praise and Worship Artist USA by the UK Christian Music Alliance. Watson can be heard worldwide on UCB Radio Ireland where she hosts a daily inspirational radio show. Watson has appeared on The 700 Club, TBN's Praise The Lord, Cornerstone Television Network's flagship show, Real Life, LeSea TV's The Harvest Show, CTN's Bridges and many more media outlets across the globe.

Though her ministry is now international, Jean is still passionate about bringing hope to the hopeless through words and music. Having performed in majestic cathedrals and grand concert halls, her favorite venues are still homeless shelters and prisons. When she is not traveling, Jean enjoys playing violin in the Kalamazoo Symphony, spending time with her family, and riding her horse, Rosie.

Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! In this episode I speak with Lea Ann Garfias about her new book Rocking Ordinary: Holding It Together with Extraordinary Grace (New Leaf Press, 2016).

About the Book:  Remember that you are the very image of God, and that makes all the difference.

Most women don’t consider themselves great. Stuck in an endless routine of cleaning, cooking, and caring for family members, they struggle to find meaning and worth in their daily lives. Exhausted at the end of another busy, chaotic day, they wonder if they have made any measurable progress, if it even matters, if their work counts. This book talks frankly about real life, ministry failures, and the depressing side of Christian womanhood, but in a humorous way that makes you want to pour coffee all over it and try again. Whether we feel capable or not, whether we feel spiritual or not, we are already changing lives. This book is for Christian women in their 20s, 30s, or 40s who may or may not have children, may or may not be tired, and may or may not be addicted to coffee.

  • Can your everyday life make a difference?
  • If you admit failures, can God still use you?
  • How can you influence those around you intentionally and biblically?

In Rocking Ordinary, Lea Ann Garfias comes alongside you like a true friend and shows you how an ordinary life can be lived with extraordinary influence. A gifted teacher and storyteller, she meets you exactly where you are — in the everyday, messy, stressful, kids screaming, laundry piling, everyday life, and encourages you, loves you, and roots for you as you begin rocking your ordinary.

About the Author:  Lea Ann Garfias believes there is enough coffee in the world to make even dreadful Thursdays tolerable. As a ministry leader and homeschool writer, she helps ordinary moms realize their extraordinary influence. When she's not homeschooling her four children, directing her church choir, or performing the violin, she's passed out asleep.

Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! In this episode I speak with Tom Breeden and Mark L. Ward, Jr. about their new book Can I Smoke Pot?: Marijuana in Light of Scripture (Cruciform Press, 2016).

About the Book:  God made pot. It’s natural. And it’s legal in more and more places. And Christians are allowed to drink alcohol, right? So really…what’s the issue?

Is it a sin to smoke marijuana? Is it permissible to use recreationally? How about medicinally? Questions like these are a hot topic today, and increasingly relevant. In fact, chances are that you or someone you know is asking them. Christians believe the Bible is our highest authority for faith and life, including on subjects like marijuana use. So how does the Bible help us answer questions about marijuana?

By looking at the biblical teaching on creation, government, medicine, and alcohol, this book sets out to help people make wise and God-honoring decisions about marijuana use. Rather than just providing a list of proof texts, Can I Smoke Pot?: Marijuana in Light of Scripture looks at what the Bible teaches as a unified whole, from Genesis to Revelation, so we can more confidently answer the question: “What does the Bible say?”

About the Authors:  Tom Breeden received an M.Div. from Reformed Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. and is currently licensed by the Blue Ridge Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). He currently serves as the Pastoral Intern at Grace Community Church in Charlottesville, VA.

Noah: Man of Destiny takes readers on a captivating, coming-of-age journey through the pre-Flood world. Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! In this episode I speak Tom Horn about his documentary film Inhuman: The Next and Final Phase of Man is Here and his book Forbidden Gates: How Genetics, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Synthetic Biology, Nanotechnology, & Human Enhancement Herald The Dawn Of Techno-Dimensional Spiritual Warfare.

About the Film:  This film is not fiction or a mockudrama but a new investigative documentary from the internationally acclaimed team at SkyWatch TV. INHUMAN travels the globe to unveil for the first time how breakthrough advances in science, technology, and philosophy -including cybernetics, bioengineering, nanotechnology, machine intelligence, and synthetic biology - are poised to create mind-boggling game-changes to everything we have known until now about Homosapiens.

As astonishing technological developments push the frontiers of humanity towards far-reaching morphological transformation (which promises in the very near future to redefine what it means to be human), an intellectual and fast-growing cultural movement known as transhumanism intends the use of these powerful new fields of science and technology as tools that will radically redesign our minds, our memories, our physiology, our offspring, and even perhaps-as Professor Joel Garreau, Lincoln Professor of Law, claims- our immortal souls.

The technological, cultural, and metaphysical shift now underway unapologetically forecasts a new future dominated by a new species of unrecognizably superior humans, and applications under study now to make this dream a reality are being funded by thousands of government and private research facilities around the world.

As viewers will learn, this includes rewriting human genetics, combining human and animal DNA, and interfacing our brains with strong artificial intelligence systems. As a result, new modes of perception between things visible and invisible are expected to challenge bioethics in ways that are historically, sociologically and theologically unprecedented.

Without comprehending what is quickly approaching in related disciplines of research and development, vast numbers of indiviuals could soon be paralyzed by the most fantastic - and widespread - implications. The destiny of each individual - as well as the future of their families - depends on their knowledge of this new paradigm, an extraordinary time in the earth's history already being called the "Hybrid Age".

FEATURING:

  • Dr. Thomas Horn - CEO, Defender Publishing: best-selling author
  • Dr. James J. Hughes - executive director, Institute for Ethics & Emerging Technologies; past President, World Transhumanist Association
  • Dr. William B. Hurlbut - U.S. President's Council on Bioethics; Consulting Professor of Neuroscience, Stanford University
  • Dr. Hugo de Garis - retired director of Artificial Brain Lab (ABL), Xiamen University, China; author, The Artilect War
  • Dr. Natasha Vita-More - faculty, University of Advancing Technology; chairman, Humanity+; fellow, Institute for Ethics & Emerging Technologies
  • Wesley J. Smith - senior fellow, Discovery Institute; special consultant for the Center for Bioethics and Culture
  • Sharon Gilbert - biologist; futurist
  • Dr. Chuck Missler - technologist; founder, Koinonia House

About the Book:  While Forbidden Gates includes fresh insights for traditional, tried and true methods of overcoming darkness, it also unveils for the first time how breakthrough advances in science, technology, and philosophy—including cybernetics, bio-engineering, nanotechnology, machine intelligence, synthetic biology, and transhumanism—will combine to create mind-boggling game-changes to everything you have ever known about spiritual warfare.

How so?

In recent years, astonishing technological developments have pushed the frontiers of humanity toward far-reaching morphological transformation that promises in the very near future to redefine what it means to be human. An international, intellectual and fast-growing cultural movement known as transhumanism intends the use of genetics, robotics, artificial intelligence and nanotechnology (GRIN technologies) as tools that will radically redesign our minds, our memories, our physiology, our offspring, and even perhaps, as Joel Garreau in his bestselling book Radical Evolution claims, our very souls. The technological, cultural, and metaphysical shift now under way unapologetically forecasts a future dominated by this new species of unrecognizably superior humans, and applications under study now to make this dream reality are being funded by thousands of government and private research facilities around the world. As the reader will learn, this includes among other things rewriting human DNA and combining men with beasts, a fact that some university studies and transhumanists believe will not only alter our bodies and souls but could ultimately open a door to contact with unseen intelligence.

As a result, new modes of perception between things visible and invisible are expected to challenge the Church in ways that are historically and theologically unprecedented. Without comprehending what is quickly approaching in related disciplines of research and development, vast numbers of believers could be paralyzed by the most fantastic—and most far reaching—supernatural implications. The destiny of each individual—as well as the future of their family—will depend on their knowledge of the new paradigm and their preparedness to face it head on.
