Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! In this episode I speak with Tom Doyle about his book Standing in the Fire: Courageous Christians Living in Frightening Times.

Here are the questions Tom and I discuss in the interview:

  • First off Tom, let’s help the listeners get to know you a bit better. Tell us the elevator pitch version of the Tom Doyle origin story. (00:39 - 02:49)
  • Next tell us how you and your wife JoAnn first got started working in the MIddle East. (02:50 - 04:44)
  • One needs to simply turn on the television or access social media to find news of terrorism and the persecution of Christians taking place all across the globe. From your vantage point, is it as bad as the news suggests or is it far worse? (04:45 - 06:55)
  • Tom, introduce us to some of the Christian’s we’re going to encounter in the pages of Standing in the Fire and share a few of their stories with us. (06:56 - 11:17)
  • How do Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego serve as an example for what it looks like for followers of Christ to stand courageously for their faith rather than merely surviving in a climate of fear? (11:18 - 13:14)
  • Is Christian persecution coming to the U.S.? (13:15 - 15:40)
  • How should American Christians respond to the global persecution of Christians? (15:41 - 18:37)
  • What do you think has been the greatest trial for you personally in spending so much time in the Middle East. (18:38 - 20:23)
  • Tom, as you think of readers getting to the final page of Standing in the Fire, what do you most hope they take away from interacting with your book? (20:24 - 25:59)
  • Tom, I know many of my listeners are going to want to find out more, so tell us where we can connect with you online and get our own copy of Standing in the Fire? (26:00 - 27:49)

About the Book:  Followers of Christ need to relearn what it means to stand courageously for their faith rather than merely survive in a climate of fear. Instead of motivating believers to action, today’s headlines appear to be paralyzing them. Standing in the Fire demonstrates the church triumphant through the lives of people who stood strong and didn’t run away in the face of overwhelming danger. These Middle Eastern heroes of faith fear God more than terrorist groups like ISIS. Supported by Tom Doyle’s commentary on events, the stories included show how these Christians are not living as victims, but victors in Christ.

About the Author:  Tom Doyle, Vice President and Middle East-Central Asia Director for e3 Partners based in Dallas, Texas, and author of four books including Dreams & Visions and Killing Christians

Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! In this episode I speak with Timothy P. Smith about his book The Chamberlain Key: Unlocking the God Code to Reveal Divine Messages Hidden in the Bible.

Here are questions Timothy and I discuss in this interview:

  1. First off Timothy, I’d love for you to share a bit of your origin story. Tell us about some of the early experiences that helped you to develop a passion for artifacts and antiquities. (00:39 - 02:18)
  2. How did you get started looking for encrypted codes in the ancient Hebrew Bible? (02:19 - 15:37)
  3. Tell us about the initial discovery where you found your own name encoded in the Hebrew text. (15:38 - 20:17)
  4. What do you think these discoveries imply about the formation and origin of these Hebrew texts? (20:18 - 25:35)
  5. How does your work differ from Michael Drosnin’s book The Bible Code? (25:36 - 29:33)
  6. Timothy, as you think of readers getting to the final page of The Chamberlain Key, what do you most hope they take away from interacting with your story? (29:34 - 31:48)
  7. Timothy, I know many of my listeners are going to want to find out more, so tell us where we can connect with you online? (31:49 - 32:49)

About the Book:  Imagine you are a young, ambitious, successful appraiser of artifacts and antiquities—your services in demand by many of the most powerful individuals and branches of government in Washington, D. C.  Your future could not seem brighter—except for a troubling dream...with the same mysterious message...on the same exact date...three years in a row...

A True Story...Better Than Fiction

Timothy P. Smith, heir to a renowned family business responsible for construction or renovation of some of America’s most cherished landmarks, struggled to understand the significance of his recurring dream...until he had another dream--one that identified a specific location where it seemed he might find answers to his questions. So Timothy drove to a remote spot in British Columbia. There the adventure--which later led to a startling discovery in the oldest Hebrew text of the Bible--began.

It took the convergence of the sacred text, one man’s life, and modern computer technology to reveal messages that may explain dramatic world events, as well as influence every person alive today.

Welcome to The Chamberlain Key.

About the Author:  Timothy P. Smith is a noted appraiser and conservator of artifacts and antiquities. He has discovered and recovered many priceless historical items, none of which has amazed and excited him as much as “the chamberlain key.” Timothy and his wife reside in Virginia.

Here are the questions Tahni and I discuss in this interview:

  1. Since this is your first time on the show, let’s begin by giving the listeners a chance to get to know you better. Start us off with a bit of the Tahni Cullen origin story. (00:38 - 03:01)
  2. Next I’d like to hear about those early days with your son Josiah. When did you suspect there might be something going on with him medically? (03:02 - 06:11)
  3. What were those early days like after you received Josiah’s initial diagnosis? (06:12 - 11:24)
  4. Tell us about the day Josiah began typing words on the iPad. What did he say and why was it so significant? (11:25 - 14:53)
  5. Talk to us about some of the things Josiah was sharing about angels, heaven and words of knowledge; now that you had this communications channel established. (14:54 - 18:19)
  6. Tell us about the Facebook page you’ve been using to extend the message of the book and to share some of the additional things Josiah is sharing with you. (18:20 - 24:45)
  7. What sort of a grid or worldview did you have for the supernatural when this all began and how has it shifted or changed in the midst of your unfolding journey alongside Josiah? (24:46 - 36:01)
  8. Tahni, what parting challenge or encouragement would you want to share with every reader as they’re finishing the last page of Josiah’s Fire? (36:02 - 41:58)
  9. Tahni, I know many of my listeners are going to want to find out more, so where can they connect with you online and where can they can get a copy of the book? (41:59 - 42:37)

About the Book:  First-time parents Joe and Tahni Cullen were thrust into the confusing world of autism when their toddler, Josiah, suddenly lost his ability to speak, play, and socialize. The diagnosis: Autism Spectrum Disorder. In their attempts to see Josiah recover and regain speech, the Cullens underwent overwhelming physical, emotional, and financial struggles. While other kids around him improved, Josiah only got worse.

Five years later, Josiah, who had not been formally taught to read or write, suddenly began to type on his iPad profound paragraphs about God, science, history, business, music, strangers, and heaven. Josiah’s eye-opening visions, heavenly encounters, and supernatural experiences forced his family out of their comfort zone and predictable theology, catapulting them into a mind-blowing love-encounter with Jesus.

  • Learn to hear and trust God’s voice.

Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! In this episode I speak with Sam Storms about his latest book Practicing the Power: Welcoming the Gifts of the Holy Spirit in Your Life (Zondervan, 2017).

Here are the questions Sam and I discuss in this interview:

  1. Sam, would you mind starting us off by sharing about how you first got exposed to or encountered the power and gifts of the Holy Spirit? I know many of my listeners would be interested in hearing that part of your faith story. (00:38 - 07:57)
  2. Next let’s get into the story behind the book. How did the idea and need for Practicing the Power first begin to take shape? (07:58 - 10:45)
  3. Let’s pull together the ground you cover in chapters 2-4. How does having an earnest desire for spiritual gifts and practicing both prayer and fasting put somebody in the right posture to be ready to go deeper with the gifts of the Holy Spirit?  (10:46 - 15:08)
  4. One of the gifts I see most commonly pursued is healing. Give us some guidelines on the dos and don’ts of pursuing this gift. (15:09 - 21:10)
  5. Another thing I see often in Spirit-empowered church circles is people practicing the gift of prophecy, sharing what are sometimes referred to as words of knowledge. Give us some practical guidance and boundaries for the prophetic. (21:11 - 25:43)
  6. I loved the title that was used for chapter 9. Talk to us about “User-Friendly Deliverance.” (25:44 - 28:49)
  7. What does it mean to quench the Spirit and how can we avoid doing that? (28:50 - 31:03)
  8. If we had the ability to put you in front of every reader as they finish the last page of Practicing the Power, what challenge or parting word of encouragement would you want to share with each of them? (31:04 - 33:16)
  9. Sam, if the listeners want to connect with you and find out more about your books, where should they go on the web? (33:17 - 34:47)

About the Book:  The Bible teaches us that we are to be filled with God's Spirit and that God's presence and grace is manifested among his people as they serve, love, and minister to one another. Yet some of the gifts that God offers to his people aren't commonly seen in many churches today. Gifts of prophecy, healing, tongues, and other supernatural gifts of God seem to be absent, and many Christians are unsure how to cultivate an atmosphere where God's Spirit can work while remaining committed to the foundational truth of God's Word.

How can Christians pursue and implement the miraculous gifts of the Spirit without falling into fanatical excess and splitting the church in the process? In Practicing the Power, pastor and author Sam Storms offers practical steps to understanding and exercising spiritual gifts in a way that remains grounded in the word and centered in the gospel.

With examples drawn from his forty years of ministry as a pastor and teachers, Storms offers a guidebook that can help pastors, elders, and church members understand what changes are needed to see God move in supernatural power and to guard against excess and abuse of the spiritual gifts. If you long to see God's Spirit move in your church and life, and aren't sure why that isn't happening or where to begin, this book is for you.

About the Author:  Sam Storms (PhD, University of Texas) is founder of Enjoying God Ministries, which provides biblical and theological resources to the body of Christ. He is also the senior pastor of Bridgeway Church in Oklahoma City and a former professor. Storms travels both in the United States and abroad, speaking at churches and conferences. He is the author of over two-dozen books and a contributor to the Zondervan Counterpoints volume Are the Miraculous Gifts for Today?

Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! In this episode I speak with Sharon Gilbert about her latest book Blood Lies, book #1 in The Redwing Saga.

Here's are the questions Sharon and I discuss in this interview:

  • First off Sharon, let’s help the listeners get to know you a bit better. Give us a few of the highlights in the Sharon K. Gilbert origin story. (00:38 - 02:15)
  • Now you’ve worked on both fiction and nonfiction books. What are some of the freedoms or advantages you find in writing fiction. (02:16 - 03:34)
  • Next let’s get into the story behind the book. How did the ideas behind Blood Lies and The Redwing Saga first begin to take shape for you? (03:35 - 05:32)
  • Set the stage for the listeners, when and where does Blood Lies take place. (5:33 - 07:29)
  • You weave a blend of both real historical and fictitious people into Blood Lies. Introduce us a few of the key characters we’re going to meet in the book. (07:30 - 11:32)
  • The Ripper murders are a key part of the Blood Lies story. What are some of the surprising things you learned while researching Jack the Ripper? (11:33 - 13:35)
  • You’ve already mentioned that there’s a spiritual warfare theme in the book. Give the listeners a sense of some of the ways the supernatural breaks into the natural in your story. (13:36 - 15:37)
  • Sharon, as you think of readers getting to the final page of Blood Lies, how do you hope they’ve been impacted by your story? (15:38 - 16:36)
  • What’s next in the The Redwing Saga series? (16:37 - 17:47)
  • Sharon, I know the listeners are going to want to find out more, so tell us where we can connect with you online and get our own copy of Blood Lies? (17:48 - 21:19)

About the Book:  The Ripper murders did not begin in 1888, but in March of 1879, when a beautiful woman is found slain and dismembered on Commercial Street in Spitalfields, London. When detectives arrive, they find not only the broken body of the victim, but a child who remembers nothing of who she is or how she came to be at the scene. Because the little girl has no known home, a gentle-hearted detective inspector named Charles St. Clair takes her to his home, and from that point on, his life will never be the same. Over the course of the next ten years, he’ll learn not only all about the girl but also about himself. And St. Clair will learn the truth about a supernatural battle that has been raging across England for four hundred years. The Redwing Saga presents an alternative telling of history, pulling back the veil of secrecy put into place by those who would deceive and destroy. Geopolitics, criminal investigation, and science merge with secret societies, angelic warfare, and human free will. Book One of the series, Blood Lies, introduces the characters—both human and non-human—as well as their backstories, and it starts us on a journey that will eventually lead from Whitechapel to World War.

About the Author:  Science, writing, opera, and geopolitics are just a few of the many ‘hats’ worn by Sharon K. Gilbert. She has been married to SkyWatchTV host and fellow writer Derek P. Gilbert for nearly twenty years, and during that time, helped to raise a brilliant and beautiful stepdaughter, Nicole Gilbert. The Gilberts have shared their talents and insights for over a decade with the pioneering Christian podcasts, PID Radio, Gilbert House Fellowship, and View from the Bunker. In addition to co-hosting SkyWatchTV’s flagship interview program and SciFriday each week, Sharon also hosts SkyWatch Women and SkyWatch Women One-on-One. She and Derek speak several times each year at conferences, where they love to discuss news and prophecy with viewers, listeners, and readers. Sharon’s been following and studying Bible prophecy for over fifty years, and she often says that she’s only scratched the surface. When not immersed in study, a writing project, or scouring the Internet for the latest science news, you can usually find her relaxing in the garden with their faithful hound, Sam T. Dachshund.

  • As we’re looking to bring family worship into our homes, what are the key elements of family worship that we should be thinking about? (16:31 - 21:29)
  • If I had the technology to beam you in front of every reader as they finish the last page of Family Worship, what challenge or parting word of encouragement would you want to share with each of them? (21:30 - 24:47)

Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! Today I speak with Michael Horton about his brand new book Rediscovering the Holy Spirit: God’s Perfecting Presence in Creation, Redemption, and Everyday Life (Zondervan, 2017).

Here's the ground we cover in this conversation:

  • I know you’re going to be new to a number of my listeners, so let’s give them a chance to get to know you a bit better. If one of us bumped into you in line at a coffee shop and asked you to tell us a bit about yourself and what you do, how would you respond? (00:38 - 01:29)
  • Next let’s get into the story behind the book. Tell us about the lecture series that Rediscovering the Holy Spirit grew out of. (01:30 - 02:50)
  • The title of the book seems to suggest that we’ve lost touch with or have somehow been neglecting the Holy Spirit. What happened, how did we move towards depersonalizing or marginalizing the Spirit? (02:51 - 07:39)
  • Going back to where it all begins in the book of Genesis, what can we learn about the Spirit from the creation account? (07:40 - 10:38)
  • What do we learn about the Spirit during the incarnation, the time when Jesus walked the earth? (10:39 - 15:15)
  • What about the work of the Holy Spirit from Pentecost forward? (15:16 - 19:16)
  • Talk to us about the work of the Spirit in the midst of the sacraments such as baptism and communion. (19:17 - 20:55)
  • What are some practical steps the listeners can take to grow in their awareness of and dependence on the Holy Spirit? (20:56 - 23:20)
  • When you think of readers getting to the the last page of Rediscovering the Holy Spirit, what challenge or parting word of encouragement would you want to share with each of them? (23:21 - 24:05)
  • Michael, if the listeners want to connect with you and find out more about your books, where should they go on the web? (24:06 - 25:04)

About the Book:  For the Spirit, being somewhat forgotten is an occupational hazard. The Holy Spirit is so actively involved in our lives that we can take his presence for granted. As they say, familiarity breeds contempt. Just as we take breathing for granted, we can take the Holy Spirit for granted simply because we constantly depend on him. Like the cane that soon feels like an extension of the blind man’s own body, we too easily begin to think of the Holy Spirit as an extension of ourselves.

Yet the Spirit is at the center of the action in the divine drama from Genesis 1:2 all the way to Revelation 22:17. The Spirit’s work is as essential as the Father’s and the Son’s, yet the Spirit’s work is always directed to the person and work of Christ. In fact, the efficacy of the Holy Spirit’s mission is measured by the extent to which we are focused on Christ. The Holy Spirit is the person of the Trinity who brings the work of the Father, in the Son, to completion. In everything that the Triune God performs, this perfecting work is characteristic of the Spirit.

In Rediscovering the Holy Spirit, author, pastor, and theologian Mike Horton introduces readers to the neglected person of the Holy Spirit, showing that the work of God’s Spirit is far more ordinary and common than we realize. Horton argues that we need to take a step back every now and again to focus on the Spirit himself—his person and work—in order to recognize him as someone other than Jesus or ourselves, much less something in creation. Through this contemplation we can gain a fresh dependence on the Holy Spirit in every area of our lives.

About the Author:  Michael Horton (PhD, DD) is Professor of Systematic Theology and Apologetics at Westminster Seminary California. Author of many books, including The Christian Faith: A Systematic Theology for Pilgrims on the Way, he also hosts the White Horse Inn radio program. He lives with his wife, Lisa, and four children in Escondido, California.

Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! Today I speak with Jake McCandless about his new book Spiritual Prepper: Tapping into Overlooked Prophecies to Prepare You for Doomsday (WND Books, 2017).

Here's the ground we cover in this conversation:

  • First off Jake, since this is your first time on the show, let’s give the listeners a chance to get to know you you better. Tell us a bit of the Jake McCandless origin story. (00:41 - 04:10)
  • Next let’s get into the story behind the book. You say that, this prophecy book is unlike most, as the prophecies you address focus on our spirituality, morality, and faith, not the environment, economy, or geopolitics. Talk to us about the catalyst or aha moment that got you started down the path of bringing this book to life. (04:11 - 09:17)
  • What sorts of misperceptions do authors have as they’re starting out? (09:18 - 14:22)
  • Talk to us about Prepping for Persecution. (14:23 -  18:25)
  • Talk to us about Prepping in a Weakened Church. (18:26 - 23:41)
  • Talk to us about Prepping against Shiny Things. (23:42 - 30:20)
  • I was glad that you included a Spiritual Prepper’s Checklist at the end of each chapter. How would you like to see both individuals and study groups put that to use? (30:21 - 32:35)
  • If I had the ability to beam you in front of every reader as they finish the last page of Spiritual Prepper, what challenge or parting word of encouragement would you want to share with each of them? (32:36 - 34:38)
  • As you look back on the journey of writing Spiritual Prepper, what was the most significant truth or lesson you learned along the way? (34:39 - 36:51)
  • Are there any tools, tips, or routines that you’d share with new and aspiring authors to help them to be successful? (36:52 - 44:04)
  • Jake, if the listeners want to connect with you and find out more about Spiritual Prepper, where should they go on the web? (44:05 - 45:00)

About the Book: As the world appears to be spiraling out of control, Spiritual Prepper helps you focus your spirituality, morality, and faith in these troubled times.

Religious liberty is under attack. Immorality is the standard. Christians are being persecuted. The church is struggling because it’s been getting solutions from the wrong places. We shouldn’t be surprised about these current conditions, but we are.

Spiritual Prepper provides a fresh perspective on end-time prophecy by drawing out the spiritual effects of natural disasters, the Antichrist, the mark of the beast, topics like the spiritual implication of identifying with Christianity (2 Peter 3:3), and gravitating to messages you want to hear (2 Tim. 4:3-4).

The biblical prophecies that explain these events and could help us cope have been overshadowed. Spiritual Prepper brings to light and makes relevant the forgotten prophecies that explain that men will take advantage of women (2 Tim. 3:6), Christians will quench the power of the Holy Spirit (2 Tim 3:1-5), believers will betray fellow believers (Matt. 24:3-13), and more.

Spiritual Prepper is a guide to families and churches who need encouragement in the face of loved ones who have turned away from God and their faith. As the fallen word races towards the day of judgment, the time to be prepared spiritually is now. There will come a time when a spiritual disaster hits and we have to remain faithful. The goal is that you’d persevere and remain faithful. That on the day you see the Lord, you’d hear, “well done my good and faithful servant.”

About the Author:  Jake McCandless is an author and former pastor who serves as the executive director and lead speaker for Prophecy Simplified. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Bible from Central Baptist College (2004) and an Advanced Masters of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (2009). Much of his theological training has been in the field of eschatology. He has received numerous academic awards and recognitions in ministry, such as the Zondervan National Greek Award and the prestigious Yousef Costa Excellence in Preaching Award from Central Baptist College. He has spent the past eleven years as lead pastor of Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, AR, and just recently made the difficult decision to step away from the pastorate to lead Prophecy Simplified. He spent seven years as a youth evangelist with Sold Out Ministries and has been involved on staff in churches since 1998. Jake is married to Amanda. She’s an elementary school teacher, but currently stays home with their two daughters, Andrea (2011) and Addison (2013). Here's the ground we cover in this conversation:

  • Peter, you and I have had a chance to get to know each other through my work with Bethany House, but I know that you’re going to be new to many of my listeners, so take a few minutes to fill them in on the Peter Greer origin story. (00:34 - 02:47)
  • You serve as President and CEO for Hope International, tell us about the mission of your organization and how your work literally changes lives all over the world. (02:48 - 7:08)
  • Every book project has its own unique journey with a backstory. How did the ideas behind Created to Flourish get their start? (7:09 - 9:26)
  • You had the privilege of revisiting and updating the message of Created to Flourish. What did you learn in that process and what is different about you this time around? (9:27 - 12:11)
  • What do people really need to know when they’re thinking about the state of poverty in the world. (12:12 - 14:57)
  • How has the church tended to respond to poverty and what might we consider doing differently? I like the phrase you use about giving a hand up, not a hand out. (14:58 - 19:23)
  • Talk to us about how we can get involved, both as individuals and also as members of churches and other large organizations. (19:24 - 21:10)
  • If readers only take away one thing from reading this book, what do you hope that is? (21:11 - 21:55)
  • Tell us about a few of your other books. (21:56 - 25:07)
  • Peter, if the listeners want to find out more about Hope International and get a free copy of Created to Flourish, where should they go on the web? (25:08 - 25:37)

Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! Today I speak with Linda Znachko about her book He Knows Your Name: How One Abandoned Baby Inspired Me to Say Yes to God (Kregel Publications, 2016).

Here's the ground we cover in our conversation:

  • Your book, He Knows Your Name, tells of how your ministry by the same name got started. Tell us a little bit about how the news story about an abandoned baby inspired you to say yes to God’s plan for you. (00:39 - 01:31)
  • While anyone who watched the news or read the story of the abandoned would have certainly found it to be a terrible situation, you were struck on a deeper level. What was it about this baby that called you to action? (01:32 - 06:20)
  • Were your family and friends support of your mission to provide a funeral and burial for the baby? How did you husband react? (06:21 - 11:40)
  • Your journey began with wanting to provide a funeral for one abandoned baby but quickly grew into something much larger. Share with us the call you received while waiting to hear back about Baby Doe. (11:41 - 16:30)
  • What advice can you offer those who have friends or family walking through the devastating loss of a child? Are some things more helpful or hurtful than others? (16:31 - 18:54)
  • Linda, I know many of my listeners are going to want to find out more, so where are some of the places they can get a copy of the book? (18:55 - 21:14)

About the Book:  When the evening news reported a dead baby abandoned in a local dumpster, Linda Znachko's comfortable life changed. She was suddenly convicted—God was asking her to provide a dignified burial for this tiny lost child. Linda said yes. She had no idea where that first small yes would lead.Linda found herself in places she never dreamed she would be: at the graveside of the child of an abused mother; by the side of a mother fighting for her lost child; and at the funeral of a Texas stripper who died two days before her baptism but left a legacy of love behind. When Linda stepped out of her comfort zone and into these implausible places with people she was unlikely to otherwise encounter, she discovered the life she never knew she wanted—a life of saying yes to God whenever He asks.

Today, Linda has a ministry that gives children a name in life, and dignity and honor in death. When she shares her stories of broken lives redeemed, other broken people respond, and so the ripple effects of that long-ago yes continue to spread, touching lives that yearn for healing, and underscoring the fact that every life matters to God.

About the Author:  Linda Znachko is the founder of He Knows Your Name Ministries. She is a popular speaker at conferences and retreats, and has been interviewed regularly by local and regional media since her encounter with Baby Nicholas.

Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! Leonard Sweet returns to the program today to share about his brand new book Mother Tongue: How Our Heritage Shapes Our Story (NavPress, 2017).

Here's the ground we cover in this conversation:

  • Let’s begin with the story behind the book. What prompted you to want to write on this topic? (00:37 - 02:01)
  • Was there anything that stood out as either unique or particularly challenging about the experience and journey of writing this book? (02:02 - 03:07)
  • Give us a bit of context. What are a few of the key things we need to know about your mother? (03:08 - 07:30)
  • You selected “artefacts from” your “memory box” to help tell your mother’s story. Can you give us an example of one of these items and tell us why that item is meaningful? (07:31 - 10:26)
  • What do you consider your mother’s biggest challenges and greatest accomplishments in life? (10:27 - 12:33)
  • You explain your home as a “religious community.” Please elaborate on what made it so and how that impacted you. (12:34 - 16:19)
  • You say in your book that “Home is where your books are.” How did reading and books shape you? (16:20 - 18:30)
  • Your mother advised you, “that if your mission can be completed in your lifetime, it isn’t a big enough dream”. How have these words motivated and inspired you? (18:31 - 21:24)
  • When you think of readers getting to that final page of Mother Tongue, what do you most hope each of them takes away from reading your book? (21:25 - 23:39)
  • Leonard, if the listeners want to find out more about you and more about your books, where should they go on the web? (23:40 - 24:04)

About the Book:  Most people know Leonard Sweet, one of the world’s most influential evangelicals, as a sharp cultural critic who helps us see how to get in front of the future rather than be bowled over by it. One of his greatest influences was his mother, a groundbreaking (and sometimes controversial) minister who defied convention while honoring tradition. In this exceptionally personal work, Len Sweet opens his mother’s memory box, and in the process he helps us all embrace the future with confidence while tethering us to a faith that transcends time. Through Len’s experience, we all will better understand and process how our own heritage affects our legacy.

An ideal resource for mothers, adult children, and families seeking resources to set up their kids to flourish.

About the Author:  Leonard Sweet is a popular global speaker and prolific author, and he holds professorships at George Fox University, Drew University, and Tabor College. His daily social media postings have made him one of the most influential Christians in the US and around the world. Leonard is also the premier writer and owner of the fast-growing, innovative preaching resource preachthestory.com and has published more than 1,500 sermons.

Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! Today I speak with Gary Wayne about his book The Genesis 6 Conspiracy: How Secret Societies and the Descendants of Giants Plan to Enslave Humankind.

Here's the ground we cover in this conversation:

  • You describe yourself as a Christian Contrarian, what exactly does that mean? (00:47 - 03:31)
  • Clearly you’ve put thousands of hours of research into the book. What was the catalyst or spark that got you started down the path of exploring these topics? (03:32 - 10:30)
  • What are some of the key things we need to know about Adam, the Garden of Eden, and the seven sacred sciences? (10:31 - 15:53)
  • We encounter the Sons of God and the daughters of man coming together in Genesis 6. Tell us how your view differs from the traditional Sethite view. (15:54 - 20:50)
  • What is going on in the lines of Seth and Cain leading up to the flood? (20:51 - 27:08)
  • How do we end up with giants after the flood? (27:09 - 37:16)
  • How do you make sense of the account of the Tower of Babel? (37:17 - 43:48)
  • Talk to us about how hero stories throughout history and even our modern day hero stories are simply calling back to something from history. (43:49 - 49:53)
  • What are some of the secret societies that have grown up out of the Brotherhoods of the snake? (49:54 - 56:09)
  • Any thoughts on why we see the Knights Templar and Freemasons represented so positively in movies like National Treasure? (56:10 - 58:07)
  • How do you hope readers are impacted as they read The Genesis 6 Conspiracy? 58:08 - 59:07)
  • Gary, if the listeners want to connect with you and find out more about the book, where should they go on the web? (59:08 - 1:00:25)

About the Book:  There are giants among us, passing largely unnoticed, intent on carrying out a secret plan to enslave all humanity. They may not look like giants today, but their bloodlines extend all the way back to the Nephilim-the offspring of angels who mated with human women-described in Genesis 6 when giants roamed the land. Gary Wayne, author of The Genesis 6 Conspiracy: How Secret Societies and the Descendants of Giants Plan to Enslave Humankind, details the role of modern-day Nephilim in Satan's plan to install the Antichrist at the End of Days. When God cast the angel Lucifer and his followers out of heaven, Lucifer set into motion a scheme to ensure the Nephilim survived. Why? Because from the bloodlines of these Nephilim the Antichrist will come. To keep his plan alive, Satan has enlisted the loyalty of secret societies such as the Freemasons, the Templars, and the Rosicrucians to conspire in teaching a theology and a history of the world that is contrary to the biblical one. This Genesis 6 Conspiracy marches toward the Great Tribulation, when the loyalty of the Terminal Generation-this generation-will be tested. The Bible, along with many other ancient sources, clearly records the existence of giants. Wayne provides copious citations from many society insiders, along with extensive Bible references, other religious references, and historical material to bolster his contention. What he uncovers will astonish you-and it will challenge you to prepare for the fulfilling of God's promises.

About the Author:  Gary Wayne is a Christian contrarian who has maintained a lifelong love affair with biblical prophecy, history, and mythology. His extensive study has encompassed the Holy Bible and Gnostic scriptures, The Qur'an, the Bhagavad Gita, Gilgamesh and other ancient epics, language etymology, and secret society publications.

Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! Today I speak with New York Times bestselling author Joel Richardson about his new book Mystery Babylon: Unlocking the Bible's Greatest Prophetic Mystery (WND Books, 2017).

Here's the ground we cover in this conversation:

  • First off Joel, let’s help the listeners get to know you a little bitter. Tell us some of the Joel Richardson origin story. (00:38 - 04:11)
  • One of the great influencers on the discussion of Mystery Babylon is Alexander Hislop. Help us to get a sense of the scope of his influence and some of the problems we encounter when we examine his work. (04:12 - 11:08)
  • As we look across world history, who are some of the cities and kingdoms that have been potentially identified as Mystery Babylon? (11:09 - 13:47)
  • You make the case for Mecca, Saudi Arabia, and Islam fitting the criteria for Mystery Babylon. Walk us through some of the ways this is a very plausible option. (13:48 - 20:18)
  • How does Turkey fit into the unfolding story we see taking place right now in the Middle East? (20:19 - 22:34)
  • What do you hope every reader takes away from Mystery Babylon? (22:35 - 25:27)
  • You have several books in addition to Mystery Babylon. For readers who enjoy this book, which of your other books would make a great follow up read? (25:28 - 26;16)
  • Joel, if the listeners want to connect with you and find out more about your books, where should they go on the web? (26:17 - 26:50)

About the Book:  New York Times bestselling author Joel Richardson carefully explores what is arguably the greatest prophetic mystery in all of the Bible.

Mystery Babylon is an in-depth look at the prophecy of Revelation 17 and 18. Richardson dissects the longest prophecy in the New Testament - the final chapters of the Bible - in order to make sense of these deeply elusive and profoundly controversial passages.

At once a queen, a prostitute, and a cold-blooded killer, this great harlot waves a golden cup filled with blood. Adorned in purple and scarlet and gold and precious stones, she seduces the kings of the earth with luxury. Most commonly known, perhaps, is that she rides a beast with seven heads and ten horns. Her title is Mystery, Babylon the Great, the mother of all harlots and of the abominations of the earth.

From the early days of Christianity, believers have struggled to understand the mystery of the great harlot. Scholars and students alike have arrived at many different conclusions.

In his characteristically easy-to-understand style, Richardson works through the history of Christian interpretation of Mystery Babylon, weighing the strengths and weaknesses of each view, making a powerful case for a solution to this prophecy that will rock the prophecy world.

About the Author:  Joel Richardson is the author of several books including the New York Times bestselling Islamic Antichrist: The Shocking Truth About the Real Nature of the Beast. He also wrote Mideast Beast and is the director of the WND Films documentary End Times Eyewitness. He is an internationally recognized expert on biblical prophecy, the Middle East, and Islam and is a human rights activist and a commentator for WND.

Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! Today I speak with Michael Heiser about his new book Reversing Hermon: Enoch, the Watchers, and the Forgotten Mission of Jesus Christ (Defender Publishing, 2017).

Here's the ground we cover in this conversation:

  • I know we likely covered some of this ground when we last talked about your excellent book The Unseen Realm, but I think it’s worth asking again to give our listeners a bit of context for your work in this area of study. Tell us how you first got exposed to and developed an interest in things like Genesis 6:1-4, 1 Enoch, and the watchers. Where did that interest come from, how did that first develop for you? (00:38 - 02:26)
  • I know the book of 1 Enoch will be new to many of the listeners. Talk to us about what sort of literature it is, the important things we learn from it, and whether or not it’s inspired. (02:27 - 07:14)
  • Who are the watchers and what was their sin? (07:15 - 10:09)
  • What’s significant about Mt. Hermon? (10:10 - 13:05)
  • How does all of this better inform our understanding of what we see Jesus doing in the Gospels? (13:06 - 15:42)
  • Let’s keep moving ahead in the New Testament. How does this better inform what we see in both the epistles and the book of Revelation? (15:43 - 18:54)
  • What would you say to the person who is wondering why it’s important for them to be exposed to this material? How is it going to be beneficial? (18:55 - 20:58)
  • For people who want to go beyond what you share in Reversing Hermon, what other resources would you recommend? (20:59 - 23:05)
  • Mike, if the listeners want to connect with you and find out more about the new book, where should they go on the web? (23:06 - 23:41)

About the Book:  Reversing Hermon is a groundbreaking work. It unveils what most in the modern Church have never heard regarding how the story of the sin of the Watchers in 1 Enoch 6-16 helped frame the mission of Jesus, the messiah. Jews of the first century expected the messiah to reverse the impact of the Watchers’ transgression. For Jews of Jesus’ day, the Watchers were part of the explanation for why the world was so profoundly depraved. The messiah would not just revoke the claim of Satan on human souls and estrangement from God, solving the predicament of the Fall. He would also not only bring the nations back into relationship with the true God by defeating the principalities and powers that governed them. Jews also believed that the messiah would rescue humanity from self-destruction, the catalyst for which was the sin of the Watchers and the influence of what they had taught humankind. The role of Enoch’s retelling of Genesis 6:1-4 in how New Testament writers wrote of Jesus and the cross has been largely lost to a modern audience. Reversing Hermon rectifies that situation. Topics include:

  • Understanding Genesis 6:1-4 and the Sin of the Watchers in Their Original Context: How the ancient Mesopotamian story of the apkallu aligns with Gen 6:1-4, was preserved in 1 Enoch, and sets the stage for the theme of reversing the evil of the Watchers.
  • How the theme of reversing the transgression of the Watchers colors the gospel accounts of the birth of Jesus, his genealogy, and his ministry.
  • How the writings of Peter and Paul allude to the sin of the Watchers and present Jesus as overturning the disastrous effects of their sins against humanity.
  • How the descriptions of the antichrist, the end-times Day of the Lord, and the final judgment connect to Genesis 6 and the nephilim.

Though every topic addressed in Reversing Hermon can be found in scholarly academic literature, Reversing Hermon is the first book to gather this information and make it accessible to Bible students everywhere. The book also includes lengthy appendices on the ancient debate on the inspiration of the book of 1 Enoch, New Testament allusions to the book, and academic resources for studying 1 Enoch and the Book of Giants from the Dead Sea Scrolls.

About the Author:  Michael Heiser is a scholar in the fields of biblical studies and the ancient Near East. He is Scholar-in-Residence at Logos Bible Software. Mike earned his Ph.D. in Hebrew Bible and Semitic Languages at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2004. He also earned an M.A. in the same field at Wisconsin, along with an M.A. in Ancient History from the University of Pennsylvania (major fields: Ancient Israel and Egyptology).

Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! Today I speak with Ron Citlau about his new book Hope for the Same-Sex Attracted: Biblical Direction for Friends, Family Members, and Those Struggling With Homosexuality (Bethany House, 2017).

Here's the ground we cover in this conversation:

  • You previous book Compassion without Compromise released back in 2014. How has the landscape of this conversation changed since then? (00:40 - 2:16)
  • The subtitle suggests that you have a broad audience in mind for Hope for the Same-Sex Attracted. Who are the readers you had in your mind’s eye as you were writing the book. (02:17 - 03:06)
  • Same-Sex attraction is a part of your own personal journey and story. How did Jesus meet you in the midst of your struggle? (03:07 - 04:58)
  • What are some of the obstacles that can keep a same-sex attracted person from receiving God’s gifts for them? (04:59 - 05:58)
  • Why is same-sex marriage a harmful thing, rather than a gift for those who struggle? (05:59 - 08:45)
  • You say that the church is one of God’s gifts to same-sex strugglers. Too often, the church has been a place of condemnation rather than compassion. How can we minister to those who are sexually broken in a way that is helpful for them? (08:46 -  11:12)
  • How can following Jesus bring hope and healing to the person struggling with same-sex attraction? (11:13 - 16:32)
  • If we had the technology to beam you in front of every reader as they get to the last page of Hope for the Same-Sex Attracted, what parting challenge or word of encouragement would you want to share with each of them? (16:33 - 18:07)
  • Ron, if the listeners want to find out more about you and learn more about your new book, where should they go on the web? (18:08 - 18:17)

About the Book:  Sometimes in our big-picture discussions about homosexuality and same-sex marriage, we lose sight of the person in the middle of the struggle. Whether that struggler is you or someone you care about, there are two fundamental questions that need to be answered: How can someone with same-sex attraction be faithful to Jesus? And how can everyone else support and encourage them in this pursuit?

With clarity and grace, author and pastor Ron Citlau will help you think through every option the Bible offers--and what it does not. Having personally dealt with same-sex attraction, walked with others still struggling, and pastored those with gay loved ones, he encourages readers to think deeply and biblically about heterosexual marriage, singleness, celibacy, and more.

Discover the remarkable gifts God provides to the same-sex-attracted Christian who desires to faithfully follow Jesus. And learn how others can come alongside them with love, encouragement, and grace.

About the Author:  Ron Citlau graduated from the University of California, Riverside and Western Theological Seminary. He has served in ministry positions in Southern California and Kansas City. He is the pastor of Calvary Church in Orland Park, Illinois, part of the Reformed Church in America.

Ron struggled with same-sex attraction his whole life and has worked with and walked alongside many others who have struggled with sexual brokenness, as well as equipping pastoral leaders to serve those dealing with sexual sin. He also worked with Andrew Comiskey, producing curriculum on sexual healing now used by Desert Stream Ministries in hundreds of churches throughout the country. When he isn't working, he loves to be with his wife, Amy, and their four boys: Jack, Sawyer, Eli, and Crosby.

Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! Today I speak with John Bombaro about his and Adam Francisco's new book The Resurrection Fact: Responding to Modern Critics.

Here's the ground we cover in this conversation:

  • First off John, since this is your first time on the show, let’s give the listeners a chance to get to know you you better. Take us into the John Bombaro origin story. (00:39 - 03:01)
  • What was the journey like moving from Catholicism to Presbyterianism and eventually ending up Lutheran? (03:03 - 04:13)
  • What area did you study for your PhD? (04:14 - 06:44)
  • Next let’s get into the story behind the book. Was there a catalyst or an aha moment where you and Adam knew it was the right time to bring this book to life? (06:45 - 09:10)
  • Tell us about a few of the contributors you and Adam partnered with for this project. (09:11 - 12:39)
  • One thing that stands out about your book is that you’re bringing out both negations, things that Christianity is not and also positive affirmations of what Christianity actually is. Why was it important to include both in your book? (12:40 - 14:10)
  • Give us a rundown of some of the critics and their specific criticisms you’re taking on in the book. (14:11 - 16:33)
  • Your specific contribution to the book takes on John Dominic Crossans’ Antichrist. Explain a bit of the ground you cover there. (16:34 - 20:20)
  • If I had the ability to beam you in front of every reader as they finished the last page of No The Resurrection Fact, what challenge or parting word of encouragement would you share with each of them? (20:21 - 21:35)
  • John, if the listeners want to connect with you and find out more about The Resurrection Fact, where should they go on the web? (21:36 - 22:15)

About the Book:  As the team did with the book, Making the Case For Christianity (CPH), Drs. Bombaro and Francisco bring together a variety of contemporary Lutheran apologists to respond to a wide array of challenges to the heart of the Christian faith.

Each chapter addresses a specific argument from a popular, non-Christian author and offers a clear and concise rebuttal and argument for the resurrection.

The editors have found able representatives from the disciplines of biblical studies, history, philosophy, and the legal profession to write each chapter.

The book is accessible, written for a broad audience, and is ultimately designed to equip its readers for the apologetics task.

About the Author:  John Bombaro is senior pastor at Grace Luther Church, San Diego, and a chaplain with the United States Navy. He is a regular contributor to Modern Reformation and the author of Jonathan Edwards' Vision of Reality.

Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! Caspar McCloud returns to the show today to dig deeper into the topics he covers in his book Unmasking the Future: A Guide to End-Time Prophecies and Today's Headlines.

Here's the ground we cover in this conversation:

  • Unmasking the Future has been out for nearly 6 months. How have readers responded? (01:14 - 11:56)
  • When did you first encounter material on nephilim giants and fallen angels and what made you decide to dig even deeper and begin studying it? (11:57 -  16:18)
  • What are some of the artifacts and other types of evidence you and L.A. Marzulli have discovered on some of your expeditions? (16:19 - 21:03)
  • Any resources you’d recommend from L.A. Marzulli for those who want to dig deeper into the nephilim topic? (21:04 - 21:13)
  • Share a bit about the giant of Kandahar. (21:14 - 25:48)
  • Now let’s move to some of the ground you cover in chapter six. Who or what are you referring to when you use the term illuminati? (25:49 - 29:58)
  • How do Freemasons and the Illuminati play into the founding of our nation? (29:59 - 35:40)
  • How are you both hoping to challenge and encourage people as you’re sharing on these difficult topics? (35:41 - 40:47)
  • Tell us about the Hear the Watchmen conference taking place in Dallas, TX from 3/31 - 4/2/2017. (40:48 - 43:29)
  • Caspar, if the listeners want to connect with you and find out more about Unmasking the Future, where should they go on the web? (43:30 - 46:21)

About the Book:  The truth is out there... only if you are able to see it through the lens of the Holy Scriptures.

Wars, rumors of war, famine, pestilences and earthquakes are increasing. Have we actually entered into unprecedented times? Legends of Nephilim giants with supernatural powers did they really exist? Is there any truth to the theories of ancient astronauts existing as alien beings from other planets? Could they actually be inner-dimensional entities from the Second Heavens? Is this part of Jacob's Trouble and the coming Great Deception of the Holy Scripture forewarned about? Are we in fact nearing the time of the end? Is there a connection here unfolding today with the  movement and the information Jesus Christ of Nazareth stated about his return being as like in the Days of Noah? Can you face the future without entertaining the spirit of fear? Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! Today I speak with Anna LeBaron about her new book The Polygamist's Daughter: A Memoir (Tyndale House Publishers, 2017).

Here's the ground we cover in this conversation:

  • Let’s begin with the book’s cover. It features a picture of you with a black censor bar covering your eyes and your mouth. What did you think the first time you saw that cover and how does it effectively communicate what readers are going to encounter in the book? (00:43 - 03:53)
  • Help us to understand the structure of your family of origin. How many wives did your dad have and how many siblings did you have? (03:54 - 05:52)
  • Give us a look behind the scenes. What was it like spending your early years inside a polygamist cult? (05:53 - 12:35)
  • You left the cult at age 13. Talk to us about the circumstances leading up your escape. (12:36 - 18:16)
  • What did it look like for you to adjust from having many boundaries to actually having a level of freedom? (18:17 - 22:14)
  • Talk to us about the role counseling played in helping you to peel back the layers and move forward? (22:15 - 27:20)
  • What do you hope every single reader takes away from your story? (27:21 - 32:56)
  • Every book writing experience is a life-changing journey. How did working on The Polygamist’s Daughter impact you? (32:57 - 36:05)
  • What was it like to transition from speaking your story to finally putting it down in writing? (36:07 - 40:34)
  • What was it like to read the manuscript to your mom? (40:35 - 45:07)
Tell us the story of how you stumbled into your work as a book launcher. (45:08 - 51:55)
  • Anna, if the listeners want to connect with you and find out more about The Polygamist’s Daughter, where should they go on the web? (51:56 - 52:30)

About the Book:  My father had thirteen wives and more than fifty children . . .

This is the haunting memoir of Anna LeBaron, daughter of the notorious polygamist and murderer Ervil LeBaron. Ervil’s criminal activity kept Anna and her siblings constantly on the run from the FBI. Often starving, the children lived in a perpetual state of fear―and despite their numbers, Anna always felt alone. Would she ever find a place she truly belonged? Would she ever be anything other than the polygamist’s daughter?

Filled with murder, fear, and betrayal, The Polygamist’s Daughter is the harrowing, heart-wrenching story of a fatherless girl and her unwavering search for love, faith, and a place to call home.

About the Author:  One of more than fifty children of infamous, polygamist cult leader, Ervil LeBaron, Anna LeBaron endured abandonment, horrific living conditions, child labor, and sexual grooming. At age thirteen, she escaped the violent cult, gave her life to Christ, and sought healing. A gifted communicator and personal growth activist, she's passionate about helping others walk in freedom. Anna lives in the DFW Metroplex and loves being Mom to five grown children.

Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! Today I speak with Jason Mitchell about his new book No Easy Jesus: How the Toughest Choices Lead to the Greatest Life (Tyndale Momentum, 2017).

Here's the ground we cover in this conversation:

  • First off Jason, let’s give the listeners a chance to get to know you you a bit better. Give us a window into the Jason Mitchell origin story. (00:40 - 06:32)
  • Next let’s get into the story behind the book. Was there a catalyst or an aha moment where you knew it was the right time to bring this book to life? (06:33 - 10:53)
  • When I shared a picture of your book on social media, a lot of my friends responded to the cover art. Talk to us about how the cover illustrates what people are going to encounter in the book. (10:54 - 14:57)
  • In the book, you write very candidly that “Believing in Jesus has left us disappointed.” I believe many Christians are afraid to admit this, but in their heart they know they’re not experiencing the fullness of what they’d hoped or longed for when they first met Jesus. Why is it that so many Christians have become disillusioned with their faith? (14:58 - 19:03)
  • One thing that really hits home for me is the idea that Jesus can easily become the “background music” to a heavily scheduled life. What’s the solution to bringing faith to the forefront? (19:04 - 24:53)
  • Many are concerned about the lack of commitment to spiritual faith among millennials. What’s your take on the next generation's spirituality? (24:54 - 32:22)
  • Every book project is a journey, how were you personally changed or impacted as your were writing No Easy Jesus? (32:23 - 35:14)
  • If I had the ability to beam you in front of every reader as they finished the last page of No Easy Jesus, what challenge or parting word of encouragement would you share with each of them? (35:15 - 36:54)
  • Jason, if the listeners want to connect with you and find out more about No Easy Jesus, where should they go on the web? (36:55 - 37:16)

About the Book:  “Too many Christians I know have grown bored and frustrated with just ‘believing’ in Jesus. They’ve settled for salvation someday, not realizing they can experience a fuller life today.”

Many Christians share a secret. Few of us dare to speak it out loud, because doing so would feel like taking a slap at God―and it wouldn’t make us look good either. Yet this secret is affecting us painfully on the inside every single day.

Here it is: Believing in Jesus has left us disappointed.

At one point we were thrilled and hopeful about living a life of trusting in Christ. But over time our experience has failed to live up to our expectations or make the difference we thought it would. So we’ve begun to think: “This can’t be all there is to being a Christian.”

If that’s what you’ve been thinking . . . you’re right.

No Easy Jesus holds the key to moving forward when you’re bored, disillusioned, and beaten down by faith-as-usual. It’s a clarion challenge to wake up each day and choose Jesus all over again; to make the tough, gritty choices that align your way with His and lead to true fullness of life. Because when you decided to follow Jesus, you didn’t sign up for what was easiest―you signed up for what was best.

About the Author:  Jason is teaching pastor at LCBC (Lives Changed By Christ) Church, a thriving church with locations throughout Pennsylvania. Through speaking and writing, Jason has influenced thousands of people to pursue Jesus with passion. He gets fired up about finding new and compelling ways to make the message of Christ relevant to peoples everyday lives.

During his free time, you’ll find Jason drinking coffee, getting a quick run in, watching the University of Alabama beat other teams in football, and listening to all things rock-and-roll. He lives, works, and writes outside of Philadelphia with his wife, Jenny, and their two children, Sienna and Silas.

Here's the ground we cover in this conversation:

  • Leif, I know you’re going to be new to many of my listeners, so let’s begin with your background. Tell us a bit of the Leif Hetland origin story. (00:36 - 03:01)
  • Next let’s get into the story behind the book. Was there a specific season of your life and ministry that birthed the message you share in Giant Slayers? (03:02 - 07:46)
  • The book is divided into three parts, so let’s have you give the listeners a sneak peek at some of the ground you cover in each section of the book. Talk to us about how we can understand God’s timing. (07:47 - 12:49)
  • What do we need to remember about aligning with God and aligning with others as we’re getting ready to step into the field and enter the fight? (12:50 - 17:48)
  • Once we’re positioned for the fight, we’re going to be stepping onto the field. We’ll surely encounter critics and experience fear as we’re pursuing something new. How do we ignore those critics and face our fears head on? (17:49 - 22:49)
  • Let’s jump ahead to part three in the book. Talk to us about why it’s important to be ourselves and why that’s a key part of taking the victory. (22:50 - 27:47)
  • What do we need to know about choosing the right weapons as we’re facing our own giants? (27:48 - 31:35)
  • Leif, if we had the technology to beam you in front of every single reader as they finish the last page of Giant Slayers, what parting challenge or word of encouragement would you want to share with each of them? (31:36 - 34:30)
  • Each chapter closes with questions to ponder and a declaration. How would you like to see churches and small groups put Giant Slayers to use? (34:31 - 36:35)
  • I also wanted to commend you and your team for the amazing gift boxes you sent to your influencers. The personalized sling was very creative. Who came up with that idea? (36:37 - 38:18)
  • Leif, if the listeners want to connect with you and find out more about Giant Slayers, where should they go on the web? (38:19 - 39:22)

About the Book:  The world is full of giants...

Some come knocking on our doors, threatening to tear our lives apart. Others are far away, guarding treasure and glory, waiting to see who will challenge them.

Maybe debt is your giant—a pile of second and third notices that you don’t know how to answer. Maybe it is an illness—a diagnosis that destroys hope or an injury that puts an end to your dreams. Maybe your giant is a cause—a suffering people that pulls at your sense of justice or an inequality in your community. Maybe it is fear—a paralyzing doubt that sends you into long days of anxiety and depression. Hunger, disease, poverty, corruption, abuse, deceit, war, addiction, hate—we live in a world of giants.

Fortunately, we also live in a world of giant-killers!

Encounter the story of David and Goliath like never before. Learn the practical “ground rules” that will bring you into a life of facing your fears, overcoming obstacles, and slaying the giants that keep you from fulfilling your destiny!

Welcome to The Shaun Tabatt Show! Today I speak with Fox News Religion Correspondent Lauren Green about her brand new book Lighthouse Faith: God as a Living Reality in a World Immersed in Fog.

Here's the ground we cover in this conversation:

  • What is the Lauren Green origin story? (00:35 - 03:32)
  • What’s the story behind Lighthouse Faith, why was this the right season for you to write this book? (03?33 - 05:05)
  • Why do you think it’s such a challenge for people to perceive God as a more hands-on presence? (05:06 - 06:40)
  • How have your skills as an award-winning journalist played a part in this book? (06:41 - 08:15)
  • Every book writing experience is a unique journey. What did you learn about yourself while you were writing Lighthouse Faith? (08:16 - 09:01)
  • What are some simple things/tips that we can do daily in this busy life to see God more clearly and love him more presently? (09:02 - 10:14)
  • What parting encourage or challenge would you like to share with each reader as they finish the book? (10:15 - 11:07)
  • Lighthouse Faith is your first book, any plans in the future for another? (11:08 - 12:33)
  • Where can people go to connect with you and find out more about Lighthouse Faith? (12:34 - 13:33)

About the Book:  Is God Just a Distant Concept? An Award-Winning Religion Correspondent is Convinced the Answer is No and Explores the Possible Relationship with Our Creator

Fox News Religion Correspondent Lauren Green uses her wealth of stories, vast network of contacts, and her own extensive study of theology to take the reader on a unique journey of spiritual discovery. With few female authors writing in the field of theology, Green provides an important perspective to all who wish to move closer to not only a deeper relationship with God but an understanding of what makes that possible.

Green gathers insight from some amazing guides along the way, through personal conversations with some of the leading minds in the world on the topic of Christianity. These include:

  • Timothy Keller
  • John Piper
  • Alister McGrath
  • William Lane Craig
  • John Lennox
  • Sir John Polkinghorne
  • Amy Beckman
  • Elizabeth Lev
  • … and many more

Is God simply an accessory that we carry with us? Something similar to what we might download from a music site to suit our personal tastes—a personal assistant in a way? Or is He His law, His structure, and His authoritative Word contained in the Holy Scripture, an objective reality to which you daily shape your life? If we believe or know we should believe that it’s the latter, how do we make this happen? How do we live joyfully under God’s will in a world so drenched in the will of human desire?

Lighthouse Faith explores the heart of the Christian doctrine and a pathway of perceiving God as an interactive hands-on presence; a caring and loving being. The first commandment is a life-giving force loaded with information about the world in which we live. This law stands atop the other nine commandments as a beacon of light, illuminating the created order, just as a lighthouse lamp shines in a darkened space, heralding a way to safety.

About the Author:  Lauren Green currently serves as Fox News Channel's (FNC) chief religion correspondent based in the New York bureau. She joined FNC in 1996.

Most recently, Green reported live from Rome in 2013 on the election of Pope Francis, as well as on the retirement of Pope Benedict XVI. Additionally, she provided live coverage of the beatification of Pope John Paul II from Rome in 2011 and Pope Benedict XVI's visit to the United States in 2008.

Prior to joining FNC, Green served as a weekend news anchor and correspondent at WBBM-TV (CBS-2) in Chicago, IL. From 1988 to 1993, she was a general assignment reporter at KSTP-TV (ABC-5) in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Outside of her career at FNC, Green is a reputable concert pianist with a degree in piano performance from The University of Minnesota. She has interviewed some of the most prominent people in the classical music world including Placido Domingo, Pierre Boulez, Joshua Bell and has covered such events as the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and opening night of The Metropolitan Opera. In 2004, she released her debut album, "Classic Beauty."

A graduate of Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism, Green was named Miss Minnesota in 1984 and was the third runner-up in the 1985 Miss America contest.
