William Boekestein returns to The Shaun Tabatt Show to share about his latest book The Future of Everything: Essential Truths About the End Times (Reformation Heritage Books, 2019).

About the Book:  All of us think about the end times. When we reflect on what will happen not only when we die but when this present age ends, some combination of ideas, images, hopes, and fears floods our minds. In The Future of Everything, William Boekestein encourages us to allow our thoughts on the end times to be guided by God's Word. While combing the Scriptures to find direction related to subjects like death, the millennial kingdom, the return of Christ, the resurrection, judgment, heaven, and hell, Boekestein helps us cultivate a vision for the future that impacts our walk before God's face today.

About the Author:  William Boekestein is the pastor of Immanuel Fellowship Church in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

He received his B.A. at Kuyper College and his M.Div. at Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary. He has worked in residential construction and taught at a Christian school for several years. He and his wife have four children.

Business presentations are a normal part of professional life. Doing them well will put you on the path to success and doing them poorly will quickly send you in the opposite direction.

Tim Calkins' hard-won insights gained over the course of 5,000+ presentations to date are sure to help you knock your next talk out of the park.

About the Book:  How to Wash a Chicken is not a book about public speaking (or chickens), it’s a comprehensive playbook for business leaders and people on their way up to give the best presentations of their lives, and embark on a circle of presentation success.

All too often, the best intentions and most innovative ideas get lost in a poorly executed presentation. Author Tim Calkins understands the power of a compelling presentation and the difficulty in accomplishing one. The brand strategist, professor and author has been giving presentations since he was eight, when he delivered his first official presentation with an uncooperative chicken at a 4-H competition. From business updates to project recommendations to marketing plans, Calkins has given more than five thousand presentations to date.

With concrete suggestions, helpful tricks, and step-by-step guidance that’s applicable to all industries, Calkins sets out to propel his readers to create and deliver effective business presentations and pitches. When all lessons from How to Wash a Chicken are applied, readers will be empowered throughout the preparation and presentation process. They will be able to present with more confidence and conviction than they ever had before, setting them on a path of professional growth.

I'm honored to welcome Aaron Dignan to the show to talk about his latest book Brave New Work. His timely ideas are going to shape the way organizations run for the next decade and beyond.

About the Book:  When fast-scaling startups and global organizations get stuck, they call Aaron Dignan. In this book, he reveals his proven approach for eliminating red tape, dissolving bureaucracy, and doing the best work of your life.

He’s found that nearly everyone, from Wall Street to Silicon Valley, points to the same frustrations: lack of trust, bottlenecks in decision making, siloed functions and teams, meeting and email overload, tiresome budgeting, short-term thinking, and more.

Is there any hope for a solution? Haven’t countless business gurus promised the answer, yet changed almost nothing about the way we work?

That’s because we fail to recognize that organizations aren’t machines to be predicted and controlled. They’re complex human systems full of potential waiting to be released.

Dignan says you can’t fix a team, department, or organization by tinkering around the edges. Over the years, he has helped his clients completely reinvent their operating systems—the fundamental principles and practices that shape their culture—with extraordinary success.

Imagine a bank that abandoned traditional budgeting, only to outperform its competition for decades. An appliance manufacturer that divided itself into 2,000 autonomous teams, resulting not in chaos but rapid growth. A healthcare provider with an HQ of just 50 people supporting over 14,000 people in the field—that is named the “best place to work” year after year... And even a team that saved $3 million per year by canceling one monthly meeting.

Their stories may sound improbable, but in Brave New Work you’ll learn exactly how they and other organizations are inventing a smarter, healthier, and more effective way to work. Not through top-down mandates, but through a groundswell of autonomy, trust, and transparency.

Whether you lead a team of ten or ten thousand, improving your operating system is the single most powerful thing you can do. The only question is, are you ready?

About the Author:  Aaron Dignan is the founder of The Ready, an organization design and transformation firm that helps institutions like Johnson & Johnson, Charles Schwab, Kaplan, Microsoft, Lloyds Bank, Citibank, Edelman, Airbnb, Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum, and charity: water change the way they work. He is a co-founder of responsive.org, an investor in purpose-driven startups, and a friend to misfit toys. He lives in Colorado with his wife and son.

I'm honored to welcome designer and TED star Ingrid Fetell Lee to The Shaun Tabatt Show to talk about her groundbreaking research on the ability of small changes in our surroundings to create extraordinary happiness in our lives.

About the Book:  Have you ever wondered why we stop to watch the orange glow that arrives before sunset, or why we flock to see cherry blossoms bloom in spring? Is there a reason that people -- regardless of gender, age, culture, or ethnicity -- are mesmerized by baby animals, and can't help but smile when they see a burst of confetti or a cluster of colorful balloons.

We are often made to feel that the physical world has little or no impact on our inner joy. Increasingly, experts urge us to find balance and calm by looking inward -- through mindfulness or meditation -- and muting the outside world. But what if the natural vibrancy of our surroundings is actually our most renewable and easily accessible source of joy?

In Joyful, designer Ingrid Fetell Lee explores how the seemingly mundane spaces and objects we interact with every day have surprising and powerful effects on our mood. Drawing on insights from neuroscience and psychology, she explains why one setting makes us feel anxious or competitive, while another fosters acceptance and delight -- and, most importantly, she reveals how we can harness the power of our surroundings to live fuller, healthier, and truly joyful lives.

About the Author:  Ingrid Fetell Lee is a designer and the founder of the blog The Aesthetics of Joy. She has been featured as an expert on design and joy by outlets such as the New York TimesWired, PRI's Studio 360, CBC's Spark, and Fast Company, and her 2018 TED talk received a standing ovation. Lee was formerly Design Director at global innovation firm IDEO, and was a founding faculty member in the Products of Design program at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. She holds a Master's in Industrial Design from Pratt Institute and a Bachelor's in English and Creative Writing from Princeton University.

Bestselling author Joel Richardson returns to the show to share about his and Nathan Graves' new book The Mystery of Catastrophe: Understanding God's Redemptive Purposes for the Global Disasters of the Last Days.

About the Book:
Never in the history of the church has there been greater opportunity and greater ability to fully engage each catastrophe God brings. God is moving in the world in amazing ways. He determines the times and places of the nations and peoples of the earth. If God is the initiator of global disasters and wars and they are not random and purposeless acts, we should try to understand why they might be happening rather than ignore or oppose them.

In the Mystery of Catastrophe, you will learn to view catastrophes in an entirely new light. God uses natural and man-made disasters as his primary means of driving people to geographic locations of his choosing for the times of his choosing, to specifically position them to hear and believe in the one and only true God and salvation through his Son, Jesus Christ. When Turkey opened the floodgates and allowed over a million refugees from the Syrian conflict and greater Middle East to pour into the Balkans toward western Europe many churches jumped at the opportunity to reach out to the hundreds of thousands of refugees who were pouring through the region. It seems that God is setting the stage for the prophecy to be fulfilled, that the gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come (Matthew 24:14).

Regardless as to how one feels about the Muslim refugee crisis, it is clear that followers of Jesus are called to share the gospel with all people. You will learn to see gospel opportunities when many others see only chaos. The closer we approach the time of Jesus' return, the more natural and man-made disasters and calamities we will see. So also then will gospel opportunities increase if we have eyes to see them. The Mystery of Catastrophe will help you recognize what God is doing in the midst of the many storms that are even now gathering on the horizon.

About the Author:  Joel Richardson is a New York Times bestselling author, filmmaker, and teacher. Joel lives in the United States with his wife and five children. With a special love for all the peoples of the Middle East, Joel travels globally, preparing the Church for the great challenges of our time, teaching on the gospel, living with biblical hope, the return of Jesus. He is the author, editor, director, or producer of several books and documentaries, and is the host of the popular online Christian program, the Underground.

We all have friendships. Some fill us up and others suck the life out of us. Is there any hope for those "extra grace required" relationships that eat away at our joy?
